He is an amazing jeweler and it is a shame he is retiring. I wish his shop were still open it was a great place to buy a gift for somebody and his work is flawless. It has been in the community for so long I will be sad to see it go. More places should be like this.

He's like that Dr House from tv. He is an exceptional jeweler who does all the work himself. He hates big chain stores. Hates technology. Has no bedside manner. He is so focussed and serious when he's working on soldering someone's ring. If he has to interrupt his work to answer the phone he probably has to start the repair over. If you can stand him he is honest, knowledgeable, and makes perfect repairs.

Coffman Jewelers offers a wonderful customer service experience akin to no other. The owner has a friendly attitude and is always happy to help. We need more small businesses like this.

To be honest I have never been in this store but that is because of the rude way they spoke to me on the phone. They had a "don't bother me" attitude. Customer service these days means everything & this shop does not seem to understand that.

One word: RUDE. I'll briefly detail my two interactions with this guy: 1) Called to ask where the shop was because I was having difficulty locating it. He hung up on me the first time when I said all I was asking for was directions. The second time, he asked "who is this?" I thought that maybe I had called the wrong number, so I asked "is this Coffman Jewelers?" He confirmed in blatantly "I'm annoyed" tone that it was. I asked if the store was located by the Blue and Gray restaurant, and he harshly replied "No, and it never has been." He then told me the store was located "directly across the court house." Well, guess what? After 10 minutes of walking up and down the sidewalk, it turns out that the store is, in fact, by the Blue and Gray, and not across from the court house. 2) Second interaction was in the store with my fiance. Any chances of us wanting to make a purchase went directly down the drain within 30 seconds. He came out from the back room and just stood there staring at us like he was annoyed by our presence. I tried to smile and say "Hi" and didn't even get a reaction. He then refused to measure her ring size unless we first committed to buying a ring we liked (hard to do when there is no variety). Literally every sentence that has come out of the owner's mouth to me has been rude. I'm not the kind of person who is easily offended or plays the victim - this guy is just simply rude. For all I know, he could be the best jeweler in the world - but it will do him absolutely no good if he can't develop some people skills and make people feel welcome in his shop. The ONLY reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because I'm holding out hope that maybe he's a great guy and was just having a bad day on both days that I spoke with him. My advice: Look elsewhere. In every other jewelry store I have been in (both commercial and independent), the people have been extremely friendly and eager to help in any way. If you're about to spend three to four digits on a piece of rock, you deserve to at least be treated kindly.
