I have a few issues with this school so far, but the biggest has been when we've gone to pick up a student at dismissal. There are signs everywhere saying that ID is required to pick up a student and that they need to be signed out, but in the six times we've picked her up they've looked at us exactly once and that's because I talked directly to one of the teachers after she told the student not to do something that she was apparently supposed to know not to do, but in the three previous times we had picked her up she hasn't needed to do anything of the sort. Since then it also hasn't been enforced. (The act I'm referring to is staying seated until she's signed out.) They also don't even pay attention to whether or not the student is actually signed out, we've been able to walk in, pick up the student, and walk back out without any of the teachers saying a word to or even looking at us. If we hadn't known ahead of time what we were supposed to do, we never would have had a clue either because except for the signs asking for ID, there's no indication of what the parent is supposed to do. It just seems like an extremely unsafe environment, and it needs to be fixed. Just because it's the end of the school day doesn't mean the teachers can stop paying attention to the students and their safety. People should not be able to walk in to the building, literally pick up a student, and walk back out. Students can be told things to make them go with any adult quietly, but even without that it is the responsibility of the faculty to make sure that every student is only picked up by the person they were told would be picking them up and nobody else, even if the student recognizes the person and wants to go with them. I am aware that this is all complaints about the end of the school day, a time frame that maybe covers two to three hours a week, but that doesn't make it any less important. If a student's safety is in question, there is nothing that can pull my opinion of a school or childcare facility up until it is fixed. Update: Two and a half years at the school and nothing changed. The faculty proved to be extremely rude and became far worse over time, even snapping at us multiple times for not knowing policies when they were 100% aware of the fact that they were not sending us the information in question (despite us signing paperwork to get it on multiple occasions, since my husband has 50/50 custody of his daughter and was supposed to receive everything his ex did). My step daughter has now changed schools and I pray she never has to return to this one. The new school has already communicated to her father more than Paxinosa and she has only been there a little over a month, a chunk of which was winter break. If you have any choice, you should avoid this school.
