They only have ribs one night a week and no blooming onion. Food was bad and apparently you only get one glass full with you entire meal. We finally got a refill when we were waiting on our card to come back. The last time I'll ever go back.

Haven't been in since the new owner's took over, but when I was there the décor was so-so, the food was so-so, and the prices were affordable. You drank out of a can, no glasses, no ice, and no refills. EH!

I've only frequented the area for 30+ years, but have always found Lamonicas to be a landmark restaurant in the small communities between Somerset and Johnstown. Having stopped there throughout my life as I seasonally pass through, I considered the simple menu and friendly service to be of 4 or 5 star quality. Personal recognition by the staff, who knew what specific drink I liked, treating me like a regular, is what made it one of my favorite places to eat in the world. And I've been to some pretty good places around the world...Nothing like knowing folks, and having a dependable place to eat an inexpensive meal in a comfortable atmosphere. But....unfortunately, I have watched this place slowly decline in all categories of food service since the management has shifted two or three time over the past few years. First it was the food...they made it cheaper and didn't lower the price. Then it was the service...on more than one occasion, the "regulars" became borderline hostile towards me in the bar, for no apparent reason other than being belligerently drunk. And now, under new ownership, I had high hopes for my somerset county staple...revamped dining area with restrictions on drinking in the bar. Similar menu, similar prices...I had high hopes. Unfortunately, I have been let down for the last time at this establishment. After the last time I was in there, the woman who supposedly co- owns the place treated me like I was a vagabond; telling me "you know that's expensive, right" after I asked her about buying a six pack of beer. Then laughing at me when I told her my alternative choice...as if I don't know what I'm talking about. The first time I went in since new owners, she took my out of state ID in the back for about 5 minutes when I ordered a drink. At first I was flattered she thought i looked so young, ...but after a minute of waiting for her to come back with my ID, I realized I don't have time to sit and wait for a drink at an empty bar. They don't care. They treat me like I'm a bum and they don't have time to serve bums. Guess what? There's no one else there, and I'm not a bum. Walking in the dining area was like walking into a library. Btw, libraries are near empty these days because there's a thing called the Internet. It was weird how some of the staff looked at me when walked in one day to get take out..as if I should have worn a tie or something. Oh, so fancy little restaraunt with folded napkins and expensive beer...how nice. Bleh. I'm sure I can afford much better further down the road. Lamonicas was a casual place to bring friends and family, but also nice enough to have Sunday brunch after church, or maybe even a date. Not anymore. Id be afraid to bring a date there (more like embarrassed), and I would never subject anyone of my friends or family to the long wait, smirky looks, poor service, uncalled for remarks, and mediocre food at arguable prices. It's a shame. I hope the owners read this and understand you can't treat people like crap, because you never know who it is you're talking to. I really hope it gets better from here. I'm considering never eating there again. I'm assuming as was the service; they don't care.
