I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food as well as the atmosphere at Lock 6. The restaurant sits on the bank of the Ohio River and has a pleasant view. It isn’t the Caño Cristales, but as I said the view is pleasant. The cuisine is American Continental so don’t expect a wide variety of exotic choices on the menu. However, the menu isn’t small either and it has a smattering of chick, beef and fish to satisfy a group with divergent tastes.
The day I was there I tried the chicken quesadilla and the beer battered fish sandwich. Both were above expectations in appearance and taste. I also had a salad that included apples, dried fruit and walnuts. The salad left me unimpressed as the flavors didn’t seem to get along and the pomegranate dressing was entirely too sweet.
The service was fair but the staff flexible when making substitutions to the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Beaver County area. As there are less than a gunny sack full of good restaurants in the area, stop at this one and I suspect that you will find the food more enjoyable and the ambiance more pleasing than most.
