Bank mailed to me invitation to open checking account. I applied online and my application was denied. Unprofessional ridiculous bankers.

I have been a customer of this Bank since 2003 (now 2018). The customer service provided to me has always been excellent. I am moving away and I hate that I cannot take this bank with me! However, I am not fond of Santander, I liked Sovereign better. Santander bought Sovereign a couple of years ago.

First off - I am not a Santander customer currently - but after 2 times of calling this branch trying to get some information I will never become a customer. The first time I called to ask a simple question an older lady answered the phone asking how she could help me, I explained my question and she interrupted me in the middle and said hang on a minute I’m finishing up with a customer. Ok.. so why did you ask how could you help me then?! Then she had me on hold for about 10 min and I decided to just hang up. I called back this morning and got a younger girl asked her my question and then she told me to hang on again. I waited on hold for about 5 minutes when this older lady got on the phone and rudely said can I help you. So I said oh someone was helping me and she said yeah I know she asked me to pick up the phone again can I help you - and I hung up. The customer service at this branch is absolutely disgusting. It’s like calling to ask questions is a MAJOR inconvenience. I’ve worked customer service jobs my whole life and if I ever answered the phone that way or spoke to a customer like that for absolutely no reason at all disciplinary action would occur immediately. My mom is currently a Santander customer and my reasoning for calling was to find out my easiest way to direct deposit money to her weekly but I’m considering now asking her to switch banks. Good luck Santander with your Bangor branch you’re going to need it.
