I used to really like Forkd. The food was simple, but pretty good considering the options here in Scappoose. It was nice to have something cooked by hand, not mass produced. I find myself going here atleast 4 times a month for lunch... over the last few years. However, over the last few months a couple things have happened that have really put me off. 1st thing that happened was being told that I can no longer order lunch for my girl friend and I and pay with two seperate cards. Often I will offer to bring her lunch and she will hand me her card to grab it for her. I was told by the owner that the Square she uses charges them for every swipe. So if i order more then one bento, I will need to use one card or pay for the extra charge. Excuse me? Why, as the customer, is that my issue? What is the difference between 3 customers in line, and me with my 3 forms of payment? Guess Ill be buying my friends lunch more often then I anticipated..... The next thing that happened, which is probably the most important, is the quality of the chicken. Over the last few months I have noticed pieces of chicken in my meal that had a green... scale? Kinda looks shinny, like a fish. The first time I chalked it up to a bad batch of chicken... but its happened about 5 more times in my meal. The chicken has also gone from having the texture of a quality chicken breast.. to feeling, rubbery. Last, today i found out I can no longer use my punch card. Yea, seems like a silly thing to be annoyed about.. but as a small company it was a nice touch to give us a little something for being a loyal, small business, consumer. Seems to me.. maybe they are running out of money? Quality of food is being lowered, product seems like its being bought in the discount isle, sauces are being watered down, customers are paying for their credit card fees, and no more free half bento after buying 10. The sign, that they dont bother directing you to, that says "we will not accept free bento punch card purchases after Dec 31st" and honestly, thats ok, I think Ill save my money next year and pack a lunch.
