Punzel's Pavers & Concrete

I contracted with Mike Punzel (Punzel Pavers) on 8/6/21 to replace my concrete driveway and walkway and lay pavers in the back yard. Following numerous excuses, he finally began removing the old concrete on 8/13/21 and in the process damaged existing concrete.  He refused to lay gravel for half of the driveway and none of the walkway which led to cracking and significant crazing. The walkway has very little slope and in one place actually drains towards the house. Also, there is a one-foot diameter puddle in the middle of one of the slabs. Following numerous calls/texts and a threat to file a CCB complaint, he finally came and inspected the mess. He agreed to repair the walkway and damaged concrete but would not guarantee his work so nothing was done.I paid my $50 and filed a complaint with the CCB which proved useless when the mediator knew nothing about concrete. Now I am faced with the cost of small claims court or a civil court lawsuit. Further and as in prior reviews, Punzel asked for another $650 after pouring the concrete due to poor math. Upon receipt of the final bill the $650 increased to $1,000. I agreed to the $650 in hopes he would repair the damaged concrete, stand behind his substandard work and help move some steps. I again attempted to settle this with Punzel on 11/10/22 and he never responded.

We engaged Mike to replace our pavers and stones in three areas, which he did, and he did a fine job.  However, he had not included sealing the pavers in his estimate.  We asked him to do the sealing as well as some work on a small faux brick planter we had; he agreed and gave us a prce, which we agreed to.However, he never came back.  He deferred three times, always by e-mail instead of by phone, which I explicitly requested after the second deferral.Disappointing.  Don't know what 's going on in his business or life, but his business won't last long if he continues to practice as he did with us.
