I love the hottest hot but this place is over the top if you ask. I've eaten raw chiles of all types on a regular basis but this is like eating a soup of nothing but Dave's Insanity sauce if you ask for the hottest level. I'm sure the food was good but I couldn't taste it. This isn't a negative review, just a kind warning. Mild is like eating a Serrano, medium like habaneros, and max level like Jalokia's without the good flavor of chiles. The curry was dark red where normally it would have been slightly milky in color. I like super hot but I want to taste the raw chile flavor. I wish I knew what they used to spice it.

My wife and order takeout from Baan Thai three to four times per month. It's very solid Thai food. I typically get pad Thai with Shrimp, and my wife gets the thom yum. There is lots of shrimp with each serving which is awesome. This is by no means a high end, white table cloth, sort of restaurant, it's just down home, good old fashioned Thai food, and I think it's great.

Best Thai food in Portland. I’ve eaten at Esan’s, Thai peacock, Thai chili jam and a few others downtown they are are trash compared to Baan Thai. If they aren’t open just wait to get Thai food another day because all other Thai restaurants in the area are mediocre at best.
