I am so grateful for the 3 years of individual counseling and 1 year of group counseling I received here at the DBT clinic. My counselors inspired me to not give up on myself and learn healthier ways of coping. I am no in graduate school to become a mental health counselor, and working as an intern counselor and specializing in trauma. My experience here was a great source of knowledge and inspiration I will never forget.

This place is a fucking joke. Just another snake oil seller that charges too much and delivers too little. You're better off microdosing.

As a previous employee, I most appreciate that all staff at the clinic participate in a weekly consultation meeting where cases are discussed in a supportive and dialectical manner. All staff get training in DBT and get individual supervision as well. When a clinician would benefit from training in any area other staff will provide this feedback and appropriate support. Everyone shares the responsibility to ensure that each client gets the best care and that's quite unique. I obviously cannot speak to what happens in sessions as I've only experienced staff as coworkers and/ or management, however, I have come to appreciate the humor and warmth of the staff. I think that the clinic has quite a diverse group of therapists, each with their own strengths and style and if you are looking for DBT, I think you might find a good fit here.

I had been in and out of talk therapy for the better part of my life and did not ever find it that helpful. I had almost given up on ever truly getting better and I found myself in a pretty bad way about 3 years ago before I was finally was able to get into DBT therapy with Larry Smtih as my personal counselor and DBT skills group facilitator. I found the therapy that I received at the DBT clinic to be life-changing...I wish I would have found DBT as a teenager. Larry was kind and compassionate and I got a lot out of my personal sessions with him. I felt that he was great as a group facilitator, he really knew the content and was good at making it accessible for everyone in the meeting. DBT was so much more than the talk therapy I had done in the past, it challenged me to practice skills and look at the way I coped with things. It was a big commitment and the time I spent paid off in a big way. When I first came to DBT I was suicidal, engaging in self-harming behavior, had recently been in Unity, was in an Intensive outpatient psychiatric program, and was about to destroy my relationship with my partner and our young daughter. While in therapy at the DBT clinic I was able to obtain employment, stop being so self-destructive, heal some of the wounds of my relationship, and I am now attending grad school. I don't think I would have come this far without DBT and the skills that I gained at the DBT Clinic. I would recommend DBT therapy to anyone who would listen...I think they should teach these skills in grade school or kindergarten. If you are contemplating DBT I would highly recommend it, it is worth the effort as long as you are willing to take the time to take it seriously.

I am benefiting a lot from the full-fidelity program and from the DBT model as a whole. MV is a helpful therapist and a great fit for me. I feel understood, supported, and empowered. LS, my skills group instructor, has also been a helpful resource. Ive been in the full-fidelity program for about 2 months, seeing my individual therapist once per week and my skills group once per week. I didnt have to wait very long to enter the full program. Most programs have waitlists, but I was able to start within a few weeks of meeting with my individual therapist and ensuring it was a good fit. Depending on how busy the practice is, your mileage may vary. DBT is able to address a wide variety of common mental health issues. Its not just for BPD anymore. Do your own research on the model and see if you think it might benefit you. The end goal is a life worth living, and I feel like it is helping me toward that goal.
