Kaiser's failure to provide medical records and respond to patient requests to end coverage in a timely way has obstructed the care and receipt of services for the member whom I am working with.

I have been on Kaiser’s plan for over a year. At first my medication was covered.... Then they decided not to cover my medication… Without my medication I am suicidal. It took a lot of fighting but Kaiser said they would cover half of the cost. It was still a lot to pay but it was something I could barely scrape by doing. Only a few days after renewing my policy in January Kaiser called me and told me they would be covering not any part of my medication and I would have to pay out of pocket. I fought with them for three months… pleading with them being explicit about how important it was I had my medication.. They tried to strong arm me into doing the generic version again… Which I have in the past…. And It made me feel suicidal my stomach was upset…. However, as my last remaining pills dwindled I tried and ordered the generic… Again, I fell into depression… I just wanted to die and throw up…. I got a new doctor, had her send in a request for the name brand. I was then told I would be covered and it would be a $30 copay. I could do that… The next time I called the pharmacy they told me it would be half of the retail cost, which would be $600 something….. I figured I would pony up what I could, maybe not get groceries, and order the rest from Canada… I was told my medication was ready at the pharmacy… I got up early to get it… When I got to the pharmacy my medication was not ready, it was not there….. In fact, they also informed me I would have to pay the entire amount. I started to freak out so they told me to talk to member services. At member services they told me that they would contact financial services to have it covered until they could get this worked out….I was relieved, and was told my medication would be ready at 2… I had to skip work because the pharmacy was across town. I came back to the pharmacy at 1:30 and they told me my medication had not even been shipped from the warehouse.. .it would not be ready til Friday…. I just got off the phone and apparently the financial coverage was a huge misunderstanding… They still will not cover my medication…. This medication is the only one I use… I maybe come in once a year.. I don’t need much of the service Kaiser provides… but this one little thing they refuse…. They will not cover name brand. If I had known they would do this I would have gone back to providence. I have been given the run around so much; I have received so many different answers from different people…. I fear I am going to run out of my medication and have no way out…. I have never been treated so badly concerning my health in my life…
