Pavilanis School of Music

I've been a student of Matthew for almost 4 years now, playing piano and guitar, and he has helped me a lot with learning instruments. My sister also recently joined the singing program and has been enjoying it very much. I'm glad that I've been a student of Matthew.

Matthew Pavilanis has created a beautiful music school. The curriculum focuses on developing each students repertoire and building a fulsome foundation of theory and technique. Matthew is a consummate performer (go watch him perform if you ever get the chance!) and a masterful teacher. He treats each student with respect and is very good at picking out enjoyable songs that will stretch and challenge each student. Our family has been with Matthew and his assistant teachers for 6 years. We feel lucky to have found him and his school.

The Pavilanis School of Music is a perfect fit for my family. His love for music and teaching is ever present during lessons, workshops, and performances. He has taken the time to to get to know my children and most importantly how they learn. Matthew truly understands that every student is unique. I feel he has taken the time to create an individualized musical journey for each of my children. My children are engaged in their studies and enjoy learning the language of music through guitar and piano. For the most part they look forward to coming to their lesson and practicing. You can tell that they are proud of their accomplishments as when we have guest over they enjoy showing off their pieces. They feel very challenged. If they are overwhelmed Matthew will help them through the piece or exercise, potentially creating a new path for them. We feel so fortunate Matthew is a huge portion of our familys musical journey.

My 7 yr. old daughter takes lessons at the Pavilanis School with JP Lempke. In all honesty, she is not always excited to go to her Monday lesson after school. However, each and every week, when leaving the lesson, she has a huge grin on her face, and says that the lesson was "Great!" and/or "Fun!" Because JP is both encouraging and patient, she feels safe to make mistakes, but also to challenge herself. He gently pushes her to improve her piano skills and knowledge while also showing interest in her life. He has developed a great rapport with her. I highly recommend JP as a piano instructor if you are looking for a great one! Oh, and the lovely location and beautiful space of the studio/school are another reason we love going there every week!

JP Lempke is truly the best teacher on this side of the galaxy. A better piano teacher one could not find worldwide. I could search the whole universe and there would be no one more impressive in their pedagogy than JP. In the course of a couple of months I have gone from a piano plebian to a piano savant. I highly recommend For reals tho JP is a pleasure to work with. He meets me where I'm at and we have a good time. There's clearly a lot for me to learn and I really appreciate how JP pushes me to find the joy in my music. JP also has a lot to share about music theory and history that I would not have known otherwise. I LOVE it. It's extremely enjoyable that we can laugh and have a good time and go on tangents. I 26 and just now picking up piano - I know I'm not the 'normal' young kid learning piano. JP really makes me feel welcomed and respected. Thanks JP.
