They're "nice" but they might mess with you on pricing. I would advise to make sure you know the current MSRP on the model you are buying, as well as the current trade-in value they are offering on the machine you are buying. I was told different things (with lots of excuses) in person, over the phone and then by email. If they had been clear from the beginning, everything would have been fine. After all the back and forth, dismissals and excuses, I won't be shopping there again.

When I sew, I want a super special shop with beautiful fabrics, creative ideas, affordable prices, and time to share with me the joy of making the most fun quilts, wall hangings, and even clothes. I've been in lots of sewing & vacuum stores, but I'm going to share my #1. Paramount Sewing & Vacuum wins the prize (-: I have nothing but fun and ideas when I go there.

I have been in this store twice in the last week, and my experience has been mediocre. I stopped in last week because it was so close to Toxic and I wanted to find out if they did sewing machine repair. They do. So today I brought my machine in. Both times there was an older lady in there who makes it abundantly clear if she feels like you don't belong. I guess people with tattoos shouldn't sew? She's that kind of a judgmental woman. Like I've been judged less harshly attending a Southern Baptist church with visible tattoos than what I was by this woman. She was that bad. Today when I took my machine in, she was livid because I brought it in still in the desk that holds it. I had no clue it came out, or that I was supposed to remove it before coming in. She failed to mention that last week. Besides her, I dealt with a machine repair employee named Jesse. Who was actually useful. He couldn't do the repair I needed, but pointed me in the right direction. Jesse is the only reason this is a 3 star review instead of a 1 star. Both times I went in, it felt intrusive. The older woman was sitting at a machine sewing, and she made it feel like I was interrupting. Would I return? No, I can't say I would. I found a far better and more welcoming business just down the road, and I'll become a repeat customer there instead. Which kind of annoys me, honestly. I love supporting small local business, but I don't need the attitude that came with this one.

Not only is it the worst service but in the reply to my posting there were out and out lies by Barbara. I was never discourteous when we first came in or at any time when I came back and tried to get it working there or on the phone when I talked to the owner. As to the "operator" being the problem with free motion I can agree with that statement if I was newbie doing free motion. I have been doing that for 15 years and the machine has never done this. I have heavily thread painted, done numerous quilts all free motion, art quilts all with free motion stitching - all on this Bernina. Barbara stated also that if they can not replicate the problem, they can't fix it. The second time I was in the store, I sat there and worked on a piece and when it skipped a stitch, the owner came and sat with me. So the problem was replicated but no solution was made- I was only told it was an older machine and they wear out. I don't believe Bernina International would agree with that statement. The worst service for my Bernina sewing machine and I have had one for 15 years. Took it in for skipped stitches specifically. Got it back with a receipt saying sews great, skipped stitches resolved. Was not resolved. Went back and sewed there for an hour and showed the skipped stitches. Was told it was 1. operator error, 2. bad thread,3. old worn out machine. Operator had used this machine for 15 years, used all different thread and all worked before and machine is a Bernina -they don't wear out. Think Paramount technicians do not understand how to work on older machines. After returning and having same problem asked for an adjustment and the owner refused. Said bring it in AGAIN and this time he would work on it and if he could make it skip, he would fix it or refund my fee. Do not believe he can fix it when twice before it was not fixed. I will be taking it next week to a Bernina trained technician who already diagnosed the problem over the phone from what I explained was happening. He stated the problem was one of two things one of which we ruled out over the phone through his guidance to try to make the needle carriage move back and forth front to back which can cause skipped stitches. It was fine. This is a person who actually trains technicians for esBernina.

Hi Georgia:Thank you for your review. However, I am going to disagree with some of your statements. I was in the office when you were talking to Paramount’s co-owner Bradley and I have spoken to the other staff that was present when Bradley was sewing with you for that hour. As he explained to you, we cannot repair a problem we cannot replicate. When you are free motion sewing with the feed dogs down, you become the feed dogs. So, if the speed of your hands is out of sync with the speed of the machine, you will experience skipped stitches. I heard Bradley tell you to bring the machine back in so that we could determine if we could replicate the problem (meaning there is something that still needs repaired with the machine) or if it was a matter of practice. I also heard him tell you that he started on Bernina machines 35 years ago and assure you that your machine was sewing properly when it left the store. He declined to refund the service fee because the service was performed. However, if we did find a problem, he would refund you as a courtesy for your time. He was more than willing to work with you personally to resolve any problems, but this is impossible over the phone. I see that you have followed through on your threat to “blast” us through reviews and social media, and we will be answering your credit card dispute, should your follow through on that threat too.Congratulations on having taken your machine to a trained technician who made your machine work fine. Since this review was posted within a few minutes of your telephone call with Bradley, it is an absolute miracle that your problem was resolved so quickly. My staff reported how discourteous you were even before we serviced your machine and we’re happy that you have found another service center. LauraCo-ownerAddendum: I see you have edited your reply to say you are taking your machine in next week, not that it was already repaired. We wish you the best of luck and I sincerely hope you find your answer.
