Having spent the night broke down on the side of the road in freezing weather after his repair job failed perhaps my opinion of Bob is a bit negative. As always one persons experience with any business may not be indicative everyone's experience.
The Van in question was sent to this mechanic because we suspected it had blown a head gasket far from home. I had diagnosed this over the phone by the symptoms the owner described to me.
Owner was refered to Bob by a person he knows. Van was hundreds of miles away and I had told tge van owner that he needed to get it to a shop.
Bob subsequently claimed that it was only a bad water pump. He then charged my friend $630 for replacing said water pump.
I reentered the story when I gave my friend a ride to retrieve said van. I being a good mechanic from an auto repair shop with an excellent reputation for backing our work.
The van made it only eighty miles from Bob's shop. We called and he denied any responsibly for any breakdown. He said "You've already been gone for two hours. If it broke down its not on me." Needless to say...my thoughts at this revelation cannot be printed here.
So after waiting for overnight in my car for parts I busted out my tools and spent ten hours replacing the timing gears. And when I restarted the engine...the coolent started ejecting from the radiator in the classic sign of blown head gasket and/or cracked head.
So...your call...after all...its your car.
