I cannot say enough wonderful things about Scout! After our first baby required pitocin to jump start labor (which btw is no joke—holy contractions Batman) I was determined to have an intervention free labor and delivery. After my water broke, contractions started but as with baby #1, they came to a virtual stand still by morning. I opted to stay home and do what I could to try to get things going again (with Scout’s remote help). As we approached 24 hours post water-breakage, we decided we should head to the hospital to make sure Baby girl was still ok. Scout met us there and helped make check-in a more comfortable experience. My preference was minimal cervical checks, no IV, and only intermittent monitoring. Scout helped ensure that the staff understood my preferences and also supported me in advocating for my preferences. By 9:15, we were checked in and Scout and I started doing exercises/stretches and movements to help move baby down and get my uterus into a contraction patten. I swear she is a uterus whisperer! Every move we did brought at least one or two contractions. As we progressed into different movements, contractions became more consistent and stronger. No pitocin or other interventions needed! By 12 am active labor was ON and our baby came out at 12:58. I fully believe that I had the labor and delivery I wanted because of Scout’s calm confident presence and knowledge. She knew just how to coax my body and my baby into doing what it needed to do and I am so happy she was part of our birth experience. Because of her help, I believe I have had an incredible recovery—nearly pain free. I feel 10x more energetic postpartum than I did with my first. If there are more babies in our future, Scout will be the first person I call. Thank you Scout! You truly have a gift.

I cannot begin to say how helpful having Scout by our side during Davison’s birth was. I truly think without her my goals wouldn’t have been reached. Having her with us helped navigate the staff, all the questions we had to work thru especially wanting/having as minimal interventions as possible. She guided us, in ways I had no idea I would need, she came prepared with things I didn’t know I might need, she stood by my side and helped myself and Clinton work on keeping me as calm as possible and on guide for the birth I hoped for. When things got tough she reminded me in ways I needed to get me thru, and I believe the horrible (at the time) positions she suggested helped me progress so quickly! I’m forever grateful for her aid in our daughters birth. I will always suggest mothers to look into having a doula, and any local moms having scout! Having someone help guide you is a game changer! Thank you scout, for making our experience everything we hoped!

Scout was amazing! Leading up to the birth of our second we wanted to experience having a doula, but we weren’t sure how that would impact or effect the entire labor and delivery. It was a fantastic decision to work with Scout. Her knowledge and passion for what she does made all the difference. She had stretches, exercises, and a plan for every situation to make Natalie as comfortable as possible. If you are even considering a doula and you live in Bend, you should at least schedule a free consultation with Scout and see how she can be a part of the entire plan.

If you are looking for a doula who will provide you with a supportive birth experience—someone who will advocate for your needs and desires, look no further than Scout Lappe. She is very passionate about helping women have a positive birth experience. She is a 6x mama herself so not only does she have the training but she has personal experience with a variety of birth practices. If you want to hire a doula, look no further than Scout!

Scout is such an amazing person. She was so prepared, supportive, and knowledgeable for the labor and delivery of our baby boy . Not once did I have to worry about whether my wants and needs would be met because she was constantly advocating for me and baby. She thought of things that I never would have and I was so comfortable knowing I was in good hands. In fact, I pushed for two hours and it wasn't until I switched to her suggested position, rather than my back like the doctors wanted, that I made progress and delivered. She stayed for a 24 hours labor and delivery to take care of not only me, baby and dad but really all of my family who was there. I hope she can be present for all of my births and I would recommend her every time.
