FYI the other day I walked by and the storefront looked more or less empty - either it has closed, moved, or it has become even more pretentious. I ate there only once and found the food decent but absolutely bowel-exploding. That’s not the reason I didn’t try it again - regularity is nice. But I can get that from McDonald’s. The reason I never returned is because the owner acted up to his reputation of being a boringly unpleasant person. He has anchor-shaped “teardrop” tattoos under his eyes - does that mean he killed boats in prison?

Had a late dinner here in July 2020. My one issue with this restaurant is that it seems that whoever wrote the website and whoever manages the restaurant have never met. The menu online was quite extensive, though when we went to the restaurant for a late dinner ( around 9:45 pm on a Saturday night); the menu consisted of around 7 sandwiches. I asked if this was the dinner menu and the worker said it was. Also, the website mentioned that the restaurant was open until 12:00 am. Wrong again, we were told the restaurant was closing at 10: 00.pm though we stayed well past 10:00pm and a handful of regulars were still present. So as a plus we didn't have to hurry through our meal. The menu was creative, gastro pub fare. Although in retrospect we should have stuck with the hamburgers and hotdogs; I had a duck confit burger that had a surprise hidden inside, what looked like a big drumstick bone. Thankfully it was too big to choke on. The ambience was nice, a classic bar set up for music too. The food was creative in thought but the execution was well...scary. I would recommend the bar for solid pub fare and maybe music, just don't rely on their website for accurate information.

Went in on Valentine’s Day night and since there was no wait, and also no one else next to us, we were excited to be able to get in and have a nice night (though maybe we should’ve taken that as a warning sign?). Before coming, we had heard good things and had this place recommended to us by friends. Honestly, as soon as we walked in, it was a beautiful atmosphere and our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! Though, she did become harder to track down as time went on. We were seated right by the door and because it was cold and the door kept opening and closing, we tried to see if we could maybe hunt her down and ask if we could move down a table or two to an open one, but by the time she finally came around, other people started coming in and ended up filling those tables, so we unfortunately just had to eat with our jackets on. Also, and the main thing, we ordered within probably the first 10/15 minutes of us being there, but didn’t get our food until about an hour/hour and a half after we had ordered. We realized that there were people coming in after us and leaving before us, and while they may have sat up at the bar and had quicker service, it was kind of disheartening, and that’s when we had checked our phone and saw how much time had passed. He ordered oyster shooters that arrived about 10 minutes before our food arrived, ordered some more in that moment the oysters came, but the rest didn’t come until about 30 minutes after our food did. As a cherry on top, they also ended up charging us for an extra one, but by that time, we were so tired of being there for 2 hours and didn’t want to try to hunt down our waitress to make her fix the total and then have to wait for her to bring it back to wait for her to take it again and etc. I don’t know, I had just had such high hopes, and to be fair, the food WAS good but was just not really worth the wait or the price in my opinion, because we ended up leaving still very hungry. We both honestly regret going here, and just wish we had waited on a wait list at another restaurant, because we probably would’ve been warmer, gotten our food quicker, and paid less for more than what we got here. All around, I don’t recommend coming here in the slightest. Maybe if the bar is quicker or for a quick drink? But there are many other options downtown that I think are more worth your time and money.
