Park renovations are in full force!! I enjoyed my childhood growing up on the residential private property located in the middle of Roman Nose State Park so I am happy to see so much effort that has been put into the recent developments. The handicap accessible trails in my opinion are an amazing link from the tippy top of the lodge that makes a smooth accessible access path to the heart of the park of "Big Spings" (Pool, day-use areas and the natural spring) which they have cleared out more area inside of, I'm waiting to see what improvements they bring next. Being a literal park resident for the first 17 years of my life, I have explored so much of the park but with a punch of new direction that the park has received it feels like a place that is new and ready to be explored even further. Critical note: FISHING is limited to the lake by the General Store as State officials rectify the dam project that WAS in process but required deeper evaluation after failure of efforts didn't not meet criteria of being a long-term solution, new engineers with understanding of the complexities they must complete are being prospected to provide a solution for many years of service to all visitors of the park! Walkability: The trail system from "The Lodge" to "Big Springs" has been paved! This system is just a big sidewalk all the way from the lodge to the day use area, which during the summer is a direct route to the pool and springs, don't worry about it getting too dark...the trail has lights built in!!

We've stayed at the lodge a few times this year (during the off season) while visiting family in Watonga. We've never received such wonderful hospitality. The staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and understanding with our rambunctious nieces and nephews. The lodge itself is immaculate, with communal areas in the lobby and a nice little gift shop. All it's missing is a restaurant right now, which I'm told there are prospects to fill that space. There is a state park general store located in the campground with good cheap food. The rooms are spacious, updated, and had one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept on. Also, I ran the full hiking trail system here and was pleasantly surprised at the difficulty, variety, and beautiful scenery. The southern most trails were a great technical challenge and were very well maintained. The views on top of Inspiration Point are well worth the trek! My only complaint is that the showers of the normal rooms are a little tight. If you're of plus size, you'll struggle with these. Booking the suite will provide ample bathroom/shower space! We look forward to staying here again during the spring/summer months to get the full experience.
