image Last July I went for lab work and a consult for hormone implant. Once I left the office, I called back no less than 7-8 times to try to figure out next steps, costs, and schedule the procedure. I talked to several employees over the phone, none of whom could ever answer my questions and when I left message after message, no one ever called me back. I'm still without treatment and now they are sending me to collections over a bill that I never knew existed. This is not only subpar business practice but TERRIBLE customer service.

image I figured I'd share my experience with FB Medical as a new client seeking medical care from my retired doctor to this facility that supposedly deals with men's hormone replacement. Issue (1) no one answers the phone, I found myself having to call back as many as six times to get a person on the phone. When I finally went in for my appt; it all made sense as they had ONE person working the front desk. (2) I got to meet with a "doctor" who was NOT a "doctor" but a Nurse Practitioner (female) who went on to tell me about how I was taking too much testosterone. I find it funny how a female "doctor" who is NOT a doctor knows my body and understands what men need. I guess it works both ways; women don't like to be told by men about their needs so in this case it would be the same thing but in reverse. I asked the "NP" who seemed to think my current dosage was too high; "why do you treat numbers and not the patient." She didn't know how to respond to my comment. I have been doing testosterone replacement therapy as a 52-year-old man for the better of 4 years and I know far more about my body than she. It became clear this organization does not treat the patient but numbers so if you are a male seeking hormone replacement rest assured they will pander to the "guidelines" of the insurance companies. Now I understand why men go to male hormone replacement centers instead of places like this because they don't know what they're doing. (3) Misplaced paperwork; the NP had me complete other pieces of patient paperwork after I already filled the same stuff out twice. She was unorganized, and kept leaving the room to "check on something." I even provided my labs two weeks before the appointment and they lost those as well so then I had to email another copy while I was sitting there. At the close of the appointment, the NP stated she will "send over the RXs" and that never happened. I called back on Friday after having waited a day and a half to follow up on why the RX's were not called into the pharmacy. I encountered "LILY" on the phone who finally answered after my sixth attempt at phone calls. She then goes on to tell me there's nothing she can do about the RX's that the "office manager" would have to follow up. I said okay well transfer me to the magical office manager. I never heard of any organization having to rely on an office manager to call in or electronically transmit RX's to a pharmacy. The whole system is sus. They obviously do not know what they're doing and are completely unorganized and no clear understanding of how to treat men's hormone issues. I had to call back four times on Friday to try to reach the magical office manager who avoided my calls and did not pick up her phone. I explained to LILY I was out of RX's and I would need these filled before the weekend. Well, here we are now it is Saturday morning, and guess what? No RX's were called into the pharm and I am wo what I need. I am not going back to this clinic again and I understand not everyone has a bad experience like me, but there are a couple of things here that are inherent with all business these days. (1) Laziness, (2) not answering phone calls or leaving messages and not returning calls, (3) the lack of caring or empathy for individual situations/issues, (4) treating everyone like they are a "payment" and not a "person", and (5) hiding behind automation such as text messaging systems and voicemails. If you are a business owner reading this review - take heed. On a final note, if it were me and I were the doctor that owned this place, I would never allow an NP to meet with my patient on the first visit especially when rapport is critical. I would want to set the first great impression at the beginning. For all I know there probably isn't even a doctor on site. Their goal is to treat as many patients like me as possible, turn and burn, and collect that insurance visit money - right? I mean after all isn't that what makes the world turn....money? God forbid we do what's right for one another.
