image These apartments are dirty, and absolutely infested with roaches. My partner and I lived here fore three months and did everything we could to get rid of the problem without success. The old manager let us leave before our lease was up because it was so awful.

image They are totally remodeling these and getting the trash who once lived there out. Way to go . Good experience when I went for a tour

image The application fee is $36, that is ridiculous!!

Business Response on Google Apr 29th, 2023
Dear Angela Anglin,We are disappointed to see that you gave us a one star review based on the price of our application fee!You may not be aware of this but $30-50 for an application fee is standard amongst the multi-family apartment industry. If you contact other reputable property owners in Tahlequah you will discover our application fee to be lower than most. The fees for the application are passed on to the tenant based on the fees that we pay for credit and background checks to outside agencies. The reason we carry out credit and background checks is to try and insure we are renting to someone who will pay their rent and not be a danger to our other residents.Furthermore, if we charged no application fee, we would need to employ someone full-time just to process applications for people who aren’t really that serious about renting: it is very easy to submit an application for residency, but if one has to pay for it the applicant needs to have a modicum of commitment. It’s a win-win situation for both landlord and prospective tenant. We see that you contacted us in the afternoon of April 25th via Zillow, we responded to your enquiry the following morning but you failed to reply to us. We aren’t sure why you went ahead and tried to submit an application without replying to our screening questions. The reason we send people screening questions is to avoid wasting prospective residents’ time submitting an application that may not even be approved if they fail to meet our criteria. In addition to this when someone submits an application that we haven’t communicated with we do not run the application without first confirming with them they meet our criteria and in doing so they avoid being charged the application fee if they do not meet our criteria.Normally people would write reviews based on the experience they have had of a business or service. We feel like we have done everything we can to serve you. We are sorry you felt the application fee is high. Sincerely,Scholars Inn

image What can I say. This place is just awful, just the worst place you can live in. Overpriced, and they recently raised the rent by $50 a month.
First of all, I am not posting this under my real name because my lease has a clause stating that I can be evicted for any reason. So, if any Scholars Inn staff reads this, just know: I will not state who I am out of fear of being thrown out, nothing you can offer will get me to come to you.
First and most importantly, is the caliber of tenants that Scholars Inn chooses to rent to is downright disgusting. This will become more apparent as you read on. One lady, gets hopped up on speed and gets drunk. Sleeps half naked in her apartment with the door open. The police were called to do a wellness check on her. Another "gentleman" was vandalizing the laundry room and commenting on women near the pool. Other tenants are always getting into domestic disputes and having police called on them. And the apartments I walk by always smell like weed and methamphetamine.
That's just the tenants, the advertised amenities are nowhere to be found here. My AC has not worked the entirety of my lease, even though central AC is advertised on their website. I pay extra for central AC and don't get it. It is the middle of the summer, and the maintenance folk keep coming up with excuse after excuse. I can't even cook in my apartment without feeling like I'm going to get heatstroke.
The worst are the cockroaches, my unit is spotless. I am very clean, but my downstairs neighbors are filthy. And they do not clean after themselves. The cockroaches are behind my fridge, they're in my drains, they've ruined electronics from crawling around in them.
I say this to any owner, future owner, or even staff. You all deserve to be sued into oblivion for how you fail to maintain the units and you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is no place for young college students to live, next door to users and pushers, and overrun with roaches. This is what you're paying $5000-$8000 a year to send your child to.
Edit: They're raising the rent to $850 here, it's a joke. Stay far far far far away from Scholars Inn- take your money and RUN.
