Redbud Design & Landscape

We had a huge project that was done by Redbud.  During the project, they broke our fountain.  It was never replaced to our satisfaction.  Worse, the Landscape Architect recommended planting Wintercreeper Euonymus as ground cover.  We are now waging war on this invasive parasite of a plant that sucks the life out of any living plant near it.  Wish we would have known it was also referred to as the Kudzu of the South.  Additionally, we're now having to remove a beautiful River Birch because, again, upon recommendation by the Landscape Architect, he planted it too near our foundation and it's causing problems.  Everything was beautiful for the first few years.  Be sure to do your research and not just trust what the charming landscape architect says or tries to sell you.  We spent about $45K on our project with this company some years back.  We sure wasted some money and are having to spend more money to take care of the problems he caused with the plants he put on our property.

This company has been an exercise on overpromising and underdelivering. Back in February of last year, I had them do nearly 16,000 dollars of landscape work and was upsold on a new sprinkler system which I was told would involve new sprinkler heads and an inspection and repair on the back sprinklers as well. I agreed, as there were a few broken heads in the system, but after they had completed the work, the old broken heads were still there. He had also told me that he would have his crew take spare dirt from the gardens and dump them in a particular place in the backyard (at my request), but that did not happen. Then, I was told there was a 1-year warranty on plants - if they died in the first year, they would be replaced for free. I've had several plants die and have been attempting to call and email Ben every few weeks without any success. I did get a return call once, and he claimed I was "on the schedule" (this was 3 months ago) to get the dead plants replaced, but he never showed up. I've been calling every few weeks since then and haven't been able to get ahold of him or anyone at the company. They don't return emails and don't return calls. If you want a landscaper who is going to follow up on the promises he makes, go somewhere else. Another piece of advice I'd offer is, at the very least, don't pay him in advance. When he completed the first half of the work, he asked for the entire payment, but I paid him (in full!) for the work completed as it was completed. I almost wonder if he wouldn't have come out and finished the project at all had I paid him the entire sum up front. Gave 2 stars because the plants that are still there do look nice, but I think he should hold up his end of the bargain and honor the warranty on his service.

Nathan was always prompt with communication; clear and concise with design layout; offered great ideas to enhance; patient with us and very nice to work with. Great job on concrete, garden borders, and landscaping. Will use again.
