I want to give an update, having left a previous review which apparently their damage control squad deleted. I still suffer every day nonstop, for 5 years, because of this guys negligence. When I arrived with a corneal abrasion within the first 48 hours back in 2018, the assistant who did the initial eye chart exam said he would put a contact lens bandage on it. But he was/is the most lethargic and apathetic practitioner (stress on practice) Ive ever had in my life. He was most concerned with chatting with the intern he was training. Just because the patient is not experiencing corneal pain at that moment, does not rule out the need for a contact lens bandage. From everything I have read since that pivotal and life ruining encounter, the bandage should be applied to protect the epithelium layer from being rubbed and allow it to heal correctly. However, since he opted to not do that nor any of the other proven modalities for abrasions, I now have a thickened and scarred region on my cornea producing vision loss, acuity loss and opacity. That used to be the dominant and better eye, but now, my vision is completely off balance and neither glasses nor contact lenses are able to help. I am left with having to smear ice cream on the good eye (uninjured) lens just to try and shift the balance and level the opacity, but this is a huge fail because ice cream is obviously not an exact science and it fades/melts off eventually so I have to repeat once a week. Thats basically like a new prescription to adjust to, every week. Now nobody wants to help me because I only have medicaid, and I only have that because I can no longer look at a computer screen for more than a minute before having to rest and look away for 10 minutes, and therefore cannot do any white collar higher paying work with better health insurance, for which 99% require computer use. Good luck trying to hold a computer dependent job that is limited in that way. So my only career options now are delivery driver or warehouse work. I used to be a mechanical engineer and outdoors athlete. Both gone, life ruined. All this may have been avoided if he had simply applied a 50-cent contact lens bandage. I paid him around 300 dollars for that visit. Unbelievable level of disinterest and negligence. Even if the bandage may not have helped, I guess well never know now. Why not err on the side of caution at such a life altering crossroads? Stay away from this guy. He is outdated in his methods to the point of being dangerous. And its so obvious he has been in trouble before, the way he writes up the medical record to ward off all legalities. The medical creed is to do no harm but what about preventing harm, or harm by inaction?

I wanted to give an update on my condition and if you want to see my first review, look under Harnishs separate google maps listing next to this one on the map. I saw him for a corneal abrasion in December 2018 which should have been a minor and common injury to treat. Well, it has been over 3 years and I have exhausted all my options to find a way to keep using that injured eye, such as glasses (24 pairs), contacts, refractive surgical consultations, but with no success. The glasses and contacts only resulted in continued pounding eye strain and/or nauseating imbalance because the other eye is still perfect. Optometrists give up and tell me to go have my cornea surgically repaired. But corneal specialists and surgeons tell me there is nothing that can be done. So I now have to wear an eye patch all the time and carry on with only one good eye. It was a minor abrasion but since Harnish neglected to properly treat it and shield it from eye lid rubbing with a fifty cent contact lens bandage, I lost almost a whole cylinder diopter in that eye along with significant added opacity (dimness), all due to scarring and dystrophy. When I use the eye patch, I am able to work and live my life again without 24/7 throbbing eye strain. I used to be an engineer but I have had to work in warehouses because I couldnt look at a computer screen without intense pain. I went through my life savings. Losing use of the eye completely is a sad solution when I came to this man because urgent care listed him in the post-visit paperwork but he failed me and ruined my life. I paid him out-of-pocket the full amount ($280) at the time of the visit. If he harbored animosity because I was not insured, he should have just charged me more or told me to go elsewhere, rather than let it affect my level of care.

I don't have anything negative to say about the doctors, because I never actually got to see them. After scheduling an appointment on the phone and going over my insurance with them (and checking with my insurance provider to make sure they were in network), I showed up to the appointment and was told they couldn't find my insurance plan so they couldn't see me. It was extremely frustrating and the woman at the front desk was short with me about all of it. I was really disappointed in how all of this was handled.

Dr, Harnish is an excellent opthamologist. He has treated me for two very serious eye infections with excellent outcomes. He and his staff are personable and readily available when needed.
