    Saw this place on my way home and thought about taking my pup, but after the reviews I’ll pass. Looks like George needs a wake up call

    1 Star is 1 too many. Due to its proximity to our home, we have used Benchmark the last few times we've needed to board our two dogs. The level of service hasn't been quite as good as other facilities we've used (overall cleanliness, amenities, professionalism of staff), but at least we've felt they were safe and reasonably well attended to. On this occasion, we ran out of luck and experienced the same sub-standard care so many others have reviewed about here. Upon pick up, after they were boarded Thursday afternoon until Monday morning, both of the dog's beds were saturated in their own filth and had to be discarded. Our dogs, if given the appropriate level of care and attention, will generally not soil their own beds. Both dogs smell as if they've been lying in their own mess for a long period of time. Due to limited public hours, the owner, George, will make a point to convince you to not pickup on Sunday, but rather to come on Monday. From the limited public hours for pickup, to the owner's attempts to convince you into a Monday pickup, and the condition of our pets upon pickup, the only conclusion that a consumer can come to is the dogs were neglected on Sunday. I did call the owner George upon my return home with the dogs to explain my concern about the dogs' condition and about the level of care during this stay. Instead of hearing out the concerns of a customer and taking some responsibility, George predictably denied that there is any difference in service on Sundays (despite the tell-tale signs of extremely limited public hours and evidence of neglect), got defensive and began, unreciprocated, to shout at me and blame my dogs' behavior for their condition. I now feel awful that I left my dogs in George's "care" simply for my own convenience. For the sake of my dogs, I wont do it again. Please do not subject your pets to this man's care. I will pass along my story to the appropriate agencies to ensure that other people's pets are being treated humanely and legally.

    I was refraining from commenting. However We dropped our dogs off for an overnight stay, requested their nails to be clipped while there. We picked them up the next day and the nails were not clipped and the dogs were horribly nasty. We had to clean our car out as well as bathe both of the dogs. I spent my mothers day doing this so "Thank You". I am never one to really complain let alone rate or post about experiences. My husband tried to discuss his concern with the owner but he went straight on the defensive side. The reason we used them is due to being close to home. But it is never ok to have a dog covered in urine and stool. I am very disappointed from the service we had this last time and it is very heart breaking. I hope my comments is taken to heart so they provide a little better care to everyone else's dogs that are brought there. I think they mean well but this time failed to provide the service I know they are capable of. No my husband did not receive a credit as promised. But to me its not about the money. It is about fully making sure my dogs were taken care of they are family members to us and it was sad to see the shape they were returned to us in. I feel I failed them by choosing Benchmark that day and that Benchmark some how dropped the ball this time. Please try better! No need to be defensive...part of being a business owner is to except fault from time to time and not take this as a personal attack on you this is just about our personal experience that we had. There are 2 sides and there is a place where they meet in the middle and honesty is needed. I will pray that God watches over you and your business. But your response to our posts explains how you are. Not once have you taken accountability or even stated you will look into our concerns. I tell you what I am having a friend bring their dog in just to see what service she receives and will post her response. I really wish I would of taken pictures of my filthy dogs I got back. I will contact the BBB as well as the health dept because I am not saying you directly but your employees or someone failed to do their job during my dogs visit. It is sad. But post back and show how you like to argue and prove the points that others have made about you being rude on their posts of their experiences. Instead of wasting your time arguing as a business owner your time should be spent on improving your business and the service you provide to others.
