Spoke to Doug on the phone, first straight shooter I have talked with as I tried different shops. He flat out told, new motor, NO, part it out. If it's a governor we can rebuild it and it's worth it. Every other shop told me to replace the motor for 550 to $750. The thing is worth $750 running. Didn't make sense on an 8 yr old riding lawn mower. I am renting a trailer and driving 45 mins for an honest guy!
