We adopted a dog 6 months ago from Elyria pound. The dog had no history, it was found tied up at an abandoned house. He was great with my fiancé and two sons, but was always scared of me or any other male figure, especially when alone. We worked with him for the last 6 months and house training, and trying to show him he has a welcoming and nice family. The bathroom in the house persisted and then he started to chew on my sons toys, clawing at doors, and things of that nature. We just felt that he needed someone who had more time to focus and deviate to him, and perhaps less people around. Contacted Vera to surrender the dog, and upon dropping the animal off she had the nerve to tell me “don’t get any more pets” Like she has the right to tell others what to do. We have had several successful dogs through adoption over the years, this is the first time we had to resurrender an animal, and we did what we felt was best for him. Don’t take your animal here unless you want to be treated like scum by the lady who operates things.

Vera cares about her rescue dogs she just doesn't happen to be a people person. She has seen too much abuse and suffering with her dogs. She will not turn over a dog to just anyone, she looks for the best match up. This is all volunteer and run by donations. She has helped countless people and 🐕 dogs find their furever home. Vera picks up Vet costs to help all her incoming dogs. Its very sad and emotional seeing the condition of some of these dogs coming into Oasis and shelters everywhere.
