Horrible company. Please do not use them! We did prebuy last summer of 1500 gals. We called for a fill at 40% as instructed by Thrifty, told delivery in 10 to 15 business days, which is 2 to 3 weeks. Well after 3 weeks we called to check when they would be here. We were told they would notify dispatch and get back to us. No one ever did. Called again 2 days later and told the same thing. We called again and left messages that were not returned and when we finally were able to reach someone they hung up on us. We ran out of propane and had to call Powers, who showed in 2 hours. We asked Powers not to fill our tank so we would have room if thrifty ever showed. Well they did finally on business day 22, a month after our order was placed. Only the driver refused to fill our tank and told us he was only allowed to fill our tank to 50% which was only 127 gallons!! We paid for this propane and now they're refusing to give it to us. Absolutely ridiculous. I cannot understand how this company is still in business.

NO STAR - STEER CLEAR OF THRIFTY!! Any money saved is lost in anxiety and aggravation. I tried "pre-buy", but learned they HOLD the order for 10-15 BUSINESS days (so it's more like 19 days); then tell you 1)only regular buy customers get 7-10 day service and 2)that's what you signed for in the contract. They do not care if you have elderly in the home, or that you are below 5% and risk running out. They insist they have no idea when the delivery will take place, and that they cannot see drivers' schedules. Calls are frequently routed to the Philippines. I own my tank and in my region I have been served well by PROVANTA. A little pricier, but real people on the line EVERY time, great customer service and prompt delivery. I will go back to Provanta. Lesson learned.

I can't believe this company is still in business. They should be brought up on criminal charges for the LIVES that they ENDANGER by failing and/or refusing to deliver the goods and services purchased. I was left without heat during the dead of winter for two consecutive winters in their pre-buy program. The first time: My pre buy was not charged to the card presented. It was charged to a card used earlier on a summer fill - and they charged me TWICE - putting the card over the limit. Customer Service would not return my calls or messages - so I ultimately filed duplicate charge with my card issuer. The actual purchase amount was still paid. Mid/end December - I started requesting a fill with 750 gallons on account - and was ghosted for weeks. I ran out in January. When I finally reached a live person - she said my propane was with-held because I had filed against the duplicate charge and I "should have" disputed the charge with them and then waited for them to refund me (oh, wait - tried that FIRST. Impossible - since they would not return my calls or messages) - and then said I had to repay the OVERCHARGE before they would fill my tank!?! (And then allow them to refund it back to me?) I had to contact Mr. Dewine's office to intercede to get delivery of that propane that was paid in full. They were, of course, apologetic to the state (So I was told) - but I never received an apology for no heat in hypothermic conditions in my home for well over a week. Silly me. I thought that would be a single, isolated incident and enrolled in their pre-buy program the following winter. They have a notoriously long delivery window and I always request my fill as soon as the needle lands around 40%. They won't honor fill request at any higher remaining fuel level. HA - they only occasionally honor fill requests at or below that fuel level. I was pretty tense by the time the truck arrived because the gauge was below the wire. The driver told me he was only supposed to deliver 100 gallons (again - I had over 500 on account) but he remembered I was left without propane the previous winter and said he would give me 200!?! I had room for twice that. He then told me to immediately call back and request another fill. It never arrived and I ran out AGAIN. This time - I was informed that I had to pay $89 for a pressure test. I told the rep that I would not be paying an additional fee for their negligence. Their response was to withhold my propane without further communication. That summer - I opted for another propane company (I own my tank) - still with undelivered propane on account with Thrifty. I called and requested a refund on the balance that they refused to deliver. I was informed that their buyback rate was not a fair market rate. It was less than half what I paid BUT was further informed that my balance was forfeit because I didn't use it within a year - despite my unfulfilled MULTIPLE fill requests. In switching to a different provider - the PPG is a little higher - but they don't tack on those multiple sneaky fees and it actually ends up costing about the same - and I have yet to wait longer than 5 days for a delivery. Rethink this one. Your and your family's lives are depending on it. This unaccredited business currently has a D rating with the BBB.
