The Hale Center is named for Dr. Frank W. Hale, Jr., a former Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Vice Provost for the Office of Minority Affairs and Special Assistant to the President of the University.
His role in expanding access to education for the Black community of Columbus and Ohio is literally built into the stone of the building which houses the Center: Hale Hall. The work of the Center hopes to see, among many other things, a rise in the current rate of enrollment of black students at OSU - a mere 6.79% of undergraduate students in the 16-17 school year.
