PRIVATE EVENT (GROUP REVIEW) We had a wonderful evening at Enoteca Emilia. Everything was authentic and done right. Our group of 14 had a private room upstairs, which because of the open walls overlooking the first floor, it was a bit noisy at first. But as the evening wore on into the later hours (9-10pm), we were able to hear each other and enjoy some of the celebration/meeting time we had intended. That said, this meal was everything I love in a dining experience - several hours, enjoying each course at the perfect pace. The service we had was fantastic. It is a family owned restaurant, as our server reminded us often, and it was clear to see the passion behind the service. What I loved about the server was that he was not afraid to call out his favorites on the menu. My wife can be very picky and usually has a lot of questions about the menu, and this time she literally said out loud, "you're the only server I've had in a long time who answered all my questions before I could ask them!". Beyond the knowledge and the passion for the food, the server picked his moments as well. When you are having a group party/meeting and people are sharing, presenting, etc., you need to know when to duck in and out, how to be discreet, but also when you simply must intercede with some important announcements. I really appreciated the grace at which this was handled on the evening. Now, to the food! The beauty of a group party at this place is that there is so much on the menu worth trying! And if you have some friends you can trust, you can taste a lot of YUMMY things! For appetizers, we had the deviled eggs, stuffed figs, and a plate of cured meats, cheeses, and bread. The stuffed figs were the winner in my book. I ordered the Lasagna and my wife ordered the Garganelli. Both great. The homemade pasta really shines. It's just so different than what you normally get. The lasagna is not your typical red sauce - it was in a creamy flavor, short rib, very dense, and very good. The Garganelli is out of this world. It was not quite as hot as I had hoped, but you have to chalk that up to the group of 14. I was able to taste the braised pork and the bacon pizza. Both fantastic. Onto dessert - we were able to try the Chocolate Bread Pudding, Ricotta Fritters, and the Panna Cotta. All with a delicious cappucino. The fritters were fantastic! Hot, doughy goodness with powdered sugar and delicious apple butter and chocolate sauce on the side. Not to be outdone, and I think my favorite of the night, was the Panna Cotta - simply fantastic. I am SUPER happy we got to come as a group. I think this place would be fantastic for a date night - great environment, but we wouldn't have been able to try nearly the amount of items on the menu. And, there are so many tasty things! So, if you have a group dinner you are looking to plan, I highly recommend coming to Enoteca Emilia. If you need complete privacy and no ambient sound, this might not be the place. But to enjoy a fantastic meal with great service and delicious bites, come here!
