Kept my water deposit hold since September when house closed. Had a credit and received check back from city water department in November. Called Barristers about hold money. As to this day I have never received my deposit hold back. Calling them again tomorrow.

I sold my home on July 9 and Barristers Title did the paperwork. They withheld 200 for my water bill. WHY??? Nothing about the electric, gas or phone??? What does water have to do with the sale of my home??? I had a problem with the water company in that I gave them 3 weeks notice of my final date and they did not take a reading. They then tried to have me pay for the new owners. I had to call the water company 5 times and Lakewood mayors office 3 time to try and resolve. The water company refused the request to provide a copy of a paid in full statement. I sent a copy of my check that had a statement on the back " acceptance constitutes payment in full" 2 months have gone by and I have no check!!! I am beyond frustrated. I have sent a complaint to the BBB, The Federal Trade Commission and I am composing correspondence to my Congressmen and my Senator. As a retired member of the Armed Forces I am also going to post this even to the moving blogs for incoming personnel. I am going to find every email I can to share this horrible experience.

Barristers…. Wow, how a title company like this is allowed to work with the public is beyond me. This is our second home so we know how the process works and been through title companies before. All I can say is I feel so bad for this company how disconnected they are with their clients and for the people like my wife and I that have to deal with this business. Why don’t we start from the beginning. My wife and bought a home and sold a home. We also had a little girl during that time. When we found out that our house sold in January we were so excited that this house will be finalized way before the baby comes in March. We would be sadly mistake because Barristers would be the title company in charge of finalizing it. It is almost mid-April and is still not finalized. Having a new born can be expensive and now add two homes on top of that. After our realtor making multiple phone calls just to get some information of why it was taking so long no one could give us or would give us answers. They started ignoring her phone calls (check the phone record Barristers, Kim and Nikki has become very good at it). So, when this started happening I started making phone calls just to figure what is going on. So, I called and got a hold of Kim and Kim said that she would call be back that evening…. Two days passed no phone call. I called the county because again Barristers did not know anything. Pam from the county told me that Barristers has had the information for weeks and they know what is wrong and they have lawyers and professionals there that know what they are doing. So, I called back to Barristers. Kim said yes, we are figuring this out and Stacie will be giving everyone a call by the end of the day. A week goes by no phone calls and I am still waiting on my phone call. If it was not for my realtor we would never hear from Barrister and they would still be ignoring and lying about calling us back. My realtor has gotten a hold of another title company to educate this title company on what to do. Also, this title company who we are not even going through has kept us updated. I have yet to receive a phone call from Barristers. Please management look into this you will see that these people have not been communicating and have been ignoring phone calls. The other title company felt bad for hard working people like my wife and I that this could have been fixed months ago if they were better at communicating. It is so sad that I have to figure out why my title company is so behind from calling the county and calling another title company. Management all I ask is you to look into these three people Kim, Stacie, and Nikki and ask them why they are ignoring phone calls, lying about calling back, and procrastinating on something that is draining my wife’s and I bank account.

They owe me over $400. They sent a check to me for it and then cancelled the check. Now the bank charged me for Barristers stopped payment on a check. Called Barrister up and acted like it was my fault because I didn't cash the check fast enough. The check is suppose to be good for 120 days. I deposited it into my account on the 59th day. Now I'm out the charges from my bank AND i have to wait for another check to arrive. Hopefully this time they won't stop payment on MY money. So frustrating!!
