image I've been with Miriam since before she was with Generations and absolutely love the experience, it's even better at Generations. Couldn't recommend it more!

image I LOVE the Aveda Be Curly product that is sold here. It's pricey but worth it. It is easy it get in and out of this location as long as you can find a parking spot. The services are very expensive.

image I gave the salon 5 stars because I've been going here for about 3 years now and I just love it! The ladies are really good at what they do and the salon has a warm atmosphere. I love the boutique that I browse while I'm waiting or processing and always find cute things that I don't see everywhere in department stores. Make an appointment early, but do make an appointment!!

image I would NEVER visit Generations Salon and Spa on 10370 Moncreiffe Rd in Raleigh, NC again. On December 21, 2015 I received services at this salon for my hair, toes and fingernails. Renee Jankowsky, the owner, did my hair and my toes. Another woman did my fingernails and her name escapes me. Three days after receiving the pedicure (12.24.15), I went to Duke Urgent Care because I had red and very itchy bumps all over my lower legs. The doctor asked me if I had been in a hot tub or had gotten a pedicure recently and I told her that I had gone for a pedicure; she diagnosed me with folliculitis. I have since contacted the salon by email - 3 times and called - once, and no one will assist me with this issue. I feel that Ms. Jankowsky is very unprofessional and immature for not returning my call or responding to my issues in the emails. I know that they received the emails because they did respond with a "canned" note stating that they would "investigate" this issue, but gave no other information. The folliculitis is a result of the Generations Salon and Spa not sanitizing their equipment properly.
On another note, I think that Ms. Jankowsky needs to be schooled on how property to foil ones hair, without ripping the hair out and how to properly wash one's hair without squeezing their head to the point that a headache forms. She was very rough and I had to finally tell her that she was hurting me when she was doing my pedicure.
This salon is VERY expensive and they try to "add-on" as much as possible; my bill when I left was $431.00 for a full foil (which I didn't need), a root touch-up, a haircut, pedicure and manicure. I have very short hair, but my haircut (which was really a trim because I'm trying to grow my hair) was $65.00 alone. Everything I told Ms. Jankowsky I liked either that she was wearing or randomly talking about something, she was very aggressive about selling to me if she had it in the salon. For example, I said that I liked her sweater, but that I have one very similar, she tried to sell me her sweater which she sells in the salon. I told her that I had just purchased another hair straightener and she tried to sell me another one (the same one that I had told her that I had just purchased elsewhere). They do not use Aveda products exclusively! They advertise that they only use Aveda products and they'll charge you ridiculously for what you think are Aveda products, but they're not and they don't disclose this. You need to ask questions and maybe they'll tell you the truth.
Lastly, I told Ms. Jankowsky that I was going to report her to the Better Business Bureau (in my email), which probably made her laugh because I found out after that she's not a member. I'm not surprised by this because I'm sure she'd have a horrible rating if she were a member! There are no consequences for the behavior that Ms. Jankowsky displays, nor for her poor practices, which is very discouraging. However, Karma will eventually catch up to her........eventually because it always does. Deceiving people and having no integrity are not redeeming qualities, by any stretch of the imagination!

image I LOVE IT! Ok, so I've done hair for 20 years in California. When I moved to Raleigh I flew back to Cali every 8 weeks to do my clients hair. Which says I'm that good! Blonding is not easy, being a colorist for over 20 years, the art that goes into doing so takes serious skill. I had no friends when I moved here, it was hard. I walked into Generations and met Brooke the manager. She was one of the sweetest, nicest people I had met here in Raleigh. At my wits here in Raleigh I broke down in her chair like many use to do in my chair. She listened and reached out to me. I will never forget that. Linda, the owners mother now does my hair and I ABSOLUTLY LOVE HER and she ROCKS my color! I would recommend this Generations to anyone and especially to those new to the area because they are so welcoming.
