I havent flown in 17 years, but I was so impressed at how organized RDU is, from the check in, to TSA, to the gates, everything went very smooth and fast

While dining options could be broader, hidden gems like Whiskey River BBQ provide satisfying bites, though seating can be limited. RDU Airport is the best airport that I have ever flown in, or out of! When I flew out of this airport for my trip to Europe, I was very surprised with the landscaping leading up to the airport, with all of the grass very well mowed, and even all of the signs, and trees weed wacked around. The terminal was the most modern I have ever been in, with all of it feeling very open, and almost calming. All of the shops were even very nice to be in. One thing that surprised me was how nice the terminal I was waiting in was. The really high ceiling made it feel much more comfortable to be in for a long time. One more thing that I really liked is that the airport has the park and ride program where you can park in a parking lot far away from the airport, and thus avoid the traffic getting into and out of the airport. They take you by bus from the parking directly to your terminal, which is very convenient, especially for me as I was traveling with my family, and we had a lot of luggage. This was great for older members of the family as they did not have to lug their luggage around nearly as far.
