      image The Barker House is conveniently located between Hendersonville and Flat Rock, about 1 mile from Carl Sandburg's house, a National Historic Monument.  Our room (Bygone Days) was clean and the Jenny Lind bed was comfortable.  The Lyons have restored the old house lovingly, and really make an effort to make their guests feel welcome.  The breakfast was delicious - french toast with pecans & syrup, link sausages, potato cones, fruit & yogurt, and an assortment of juices and tea or coffee.  The meal was served in the Victorian dining room on pink & white china.It was a nice alternative to staying in a motel.
