We made reservations here for NYE a month in advance. When we arrived, we were told that they had a set menu for the night (which we found out about the day before when they called to confirm our reservation) and that it was $120/person (we were not alerted to the price prior). Finally, we couldn't order wine by the glass - our options were to order a bottle or pay more for their wine pairing. While we hadn't planned on paying that much for dinner, it was fine because we figured we were in for an amazing meal; everyone in our group had been to Table 16 before and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The bill for my husband and I came to $360, and we left feeling disappointed due to the unoriginal, lackluster meal and poor service. I am truly disappointed. While we consider ourselves "foodies," we're not jerks or hard to please. This was just not good food. For $360, I expect something imaginative and amazing that I couldn't replicate at home. Table 16, I don't know what has changed, but please get it together. We won't be returning until you do.

They increased the price of their New Years Eve menu from $85 a person to $125 and did not share this information with guests that had a reservation. We’ll be celebrating the new year at the other 16 (1618 that is)! We wish you better business skills in 2018.

My 10 year old son had a craving for steak while we were downtown and we happily found this restaurant as they were just opening for the evening. We were one of only two tables seated, initially. By the time we were half way into our dinner, the entire dinner room was packed. Our server was great and the food was delicious. My son's steak was tender and flavorful. This is such a nice, quiet and intimate restaurant. I will ba back again!

I want to couch my comments by sharing that I am a supporter of local businesses, and have previously enjoyed meals at Table 16 and the previous occupant at this cozy space, Undercurrent. That said, I feel the events of New Year's Eve were egregious enough that a public review is required. To wit: 1. At some indeterminate point between the time we made the reservation and our arrival, the restaurant decided to jettison its regular menu for a special $85 per person New Year's Eve menu. This was not communicated until we arrived, and well beyond the time that we would be able to "vote with our feet" and find another suitable establishment at which to celebrate New Year's. We essentially felt held captive and that a "bait and switch" was committed. (The host shared that attempts were allegedly made to communicate the change ahead of time; the person in our party who made the reservation never received a call. The host also said that other guests did decide to leave upon hearing the news). 2. We were seated at a table adjacent to a door that was supposed to be used for emergencies only (but was not marked as such). Over the course of the next 90 minutes, several parties decided to use the door to exit, blasting us with 16-degree air each time (and causing a member of our party to self-monitor the door, as the wait staff was not attentive in addressing the situation). 3. It was communicated that member of our party was the designated driver for the evening (a common occurrence on New Year's); the restaurant was unprepared for this and was unable to offer any non-alcoholic beer or champagne-substitute options. 4. Regarding alcohol, while we were still absorbing the sting of the $85 per person pricing on the menu, we were told that the menu included a wine pairing, then, later, told that to actually add the wine would cost an extra $35 per person. 5. The food, though enjoyable, was not special, bountiful or memorable. The she-crab soup was about five tablespoons worth of liquid with two or three random tiny slivers of crab meat; the steak au poirve, though tasty, was about 3 ounces, and the fish entree was overcooked and leathery. Kudos on the mushroom/gnocchi appetizer -- which was the highlight of the meal. 6. Courses were rushed out, as if the restaurant was dictating our timetable, rather than us. This gave us a feeling that we needed to stay focused on devouring our food rather than enjoying our company and good tidings - not what one would expect on a special evening like New Year's Eve. In sum, the experience cast a pall over my celebratory feeling -- down to the point when I received my check, which was for far more than I was expecting -- and was prepared to pay -- on this evening. I debated posting for several days (as evidenced by the date of this review), waiting to see if my feelings would subside over time; unfortunately, they have not. (Reading Jami P.'s review -- which is also a spot-on account -- only added credence to my feelings as well.) I wish Table 16 the best, but after 17 years of patronage of that restaurant and its predecessor at that location, I have darkened its door for the last time.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner at Table 16. I found this place on OpenTable while in town for work and gave it a try. I am glad I did. The negative reviews I saw about this restaurant are mostly about an unexpected change to their New Year's Eve service, however for a nice dinner off their menu on a normal night this place it great. Give it a try.
