I chose College Hill because I wanted my family to be a part of a community of people that cared about our kid's education. I've been there for two years now and couldn't love it more. If you want a community to be invested in, that will invest in your family in return, this is the place to come.

I love it here! We've had our two girls here since they were 6 weeks old, so going on almost 5 years now. It's a perfect place for families who want to be involved in their daycare. The other perk is making lifelong friends with parents that have kids around your kids age.

Our family has been with Co-op since April of 2016 through both of our sons and we couldn't speak more highly of our experience. Co-op is truly a unique childcare experience. The parent body works together with the staff to create a community culture where all families can feel taken care of and included. All families are welcome at Co-op, and so are all children. Co-op uses a play-based curriculum, which allows our children to be children, while they still can learn what they need before they head to kindergarten. We were delighted to learn when we contacted them that they allowed cloth diapering as well as a variety of diets. One of the facilities I called before told us they required all of their children to eat the same lunch, and didn't accommodate any dietary variations. I love that they allow me to continue to be the kind of parent I want to be at our childcare center. The kids get lots of outdoors time and unstructured play, which is important for their brain development, as well as daily planned activities, with the option to do yoga and dance classes during the day! All of these decisions that co-op has in practice are all voted upon and decided by the parent body, in conjunction with the director. We also have planned social outings for the kids, parents nights out, a featured charity, etc. In addition, whenever we get new families that always brings a new skill set to our group! You never know what wonderful thing, like gardening, art, etc. a new family might bring, and it could be you! I have worked with co-op as presider, co-presider, secretary, on fundraising, personnel, you name it, and I'm still here. It's great! Finally, I want to mention how extraordinary our current staff is. All of the staff interacts with all of the children at some point. Everyone knows everybody's name and they all work together to find what is best for the children. No harsh punishments are used, and teachers try to find a gentle, child-centered way to deal with the kids who may be going through a struggle or conflict with the other children, the way that they often do. My son is in the preschool room, and we sing the praises of the preschool teacher all day, every day in our house. He's great with the kids, communicates with parents on all necessary issues, and is honest and respectful. The picture I have attached is a snow fort that the preschool teacher built for the kids to play in, and my son is valiantly defending it :-D We love co-op!

I am a former parent that is so glad we left. I was so sad to leave because there were people and things about Co-Op that I loved. But I got tired of the afternoon staff. Every afternoon I would pick up to all the children in Redhead Hall. I knew for a fact that my child's teacher didn't even want them in that room. It is VERY unsafe for little ones. I would also find every afternoon all the staff including the director on their phones or just sitting far away from where many of the children were playing. The director while she is sweet I now see she has no idea what she is doing. She puts her staff through more than they should be with moving kids around, not having enough staff, and MANY times my child's teacher didn't know things she should know about her job because the director didn't inform her. This created an awkward environment for me. You can also tell she loves and favorites the preschool teacher. I also was really worried about my child aging into that older classroom. The teacher in that room gave me creeps. He may have been a great teacher at one time but he isn't now. He is always on his phone. He seems to have his children in the hallway everyday playing. It's fine to play in the hall but no one should be using this daily when he has his own playground. He also made comments that made me feel gross and once told me "I know who to say what to". This is a huge red flag when a man says this. He is loved by certain people that to say anything bad about him will get you hated. That is my last issue with this place. There was very much a "cool mom" group that ran that place. They will be nice to you at first but after they aren't. If you go against certain things this will get you so much hate. I was made to feel very unwelcomed and have talked with other parents that had the same issues.
