We had a sewing machine repaired this last week, and while no one was "rude" (as other reviewers have experienced), the service was very curt - not even a hint of customer appreciation, particularly from the gentlemen. But my bigger problem is that in the midst of a pandemic, neither the man or the woman was wearing a mask. And then the gentlemen has the nerve to advise me that I didn't need to stand so far back (I was wearing a mask, and doing extra social distancing since he was not). When I explained I was social distancing, he suggested that I was farther than 6 feet away. I will never return to this establishment again - I don't care how much further I made to drive.

I felt like I got good advice from the gentleman working here, but the general customer interaction is condescending and brisk as others have mentioned. I was also told I could lower my mask based on how far away the shopkeeper was. He came out to help another customer, and still did not put on a mask. There are too many signs that the shopkeeper does not really care for his customers past their wallet. If you can drive elsewhere, you should do so.

I stopped by with a friend to see about having my sewing machine repaired. The owner’s wife came out and greeted us and I explained the problem I was having with the machine. She was very friendly and went to the back to get her husband. He was rude and condescending from the moment he came out. When I mentioned I previously had a full tune up awhile back, he proceeded to bash the reputation of the other repairman. We were polite at all times and we simply astonished with his behavior. We will never be going into this store again or recommend it. Definitely not the typical Durham ambiance in this store!

Went for a vacuum cleaner belt. Found the owner to be very cordial and helpful! Totally opposite experience of other recent reviews.

Wow. I called asking about a small tool that originally came with my serger which is maybe 10 year old. The man who spoke to me was so rude & not at all helpful. He told me that I was trying to do something that I shouldn’t be doing, that no one uses those kinds of tools anymore & that he would have to look at it to tell me what was going on. This isn’t rocket science. I just need to change the blade on my serger. The manual comes with instructions on how to do this safely. I didn’t call for his opinion I called about purchases or ordering a tool. I found it online & will not be recommending this place to anyone.
