Friend took me to eat here for first time, we travel all over USA & Mexico. This is one of those "I will remember & tell folks about it" spots, he remembered it. Excellent food, service, & decor. Excellent value.

Never having traveled to the Mediterranean, I cannot say with certainty how authentic the fare is at Bergama on Hillsborough Road. However, the food is delicious, and the customer service is amazing. We went for dinner tonight, and two drinks and two large entrees cost under $30. We were promptly seated, our orders taken, and we were given hot, fresh breadsticks and EVOO/herbs to dip them in. I was raised on Southern sweet tea, so I thought mine was perfect; the hubbie (not from the South) chose unsweetened and after tasting mine was glad. I had the gyro dinner. The lamb and pita bread were as they should be, and the tzatziki sauce was freshly made and excellent. The plate also came with a baked potato and a wonderful assortment of steamed vegetables. The hubbie had something called barak; beef, onions, and cheese inside a thin pastry (possibly phyllo) similar to a calzone with a bit of sesame seed on top. His dish came with a bowl of relish that he described as similar to pico de gallo, with tomato, cucumber, and onion. Both dinners came with the option of salad bar or a cup of soup. We both opted for the clam chowder, and neither of us regrets it. The chowder was thick, with an excellent texture, generous amounts of clam, and with tiny bits of carrot as well as potato. The two waitresses I saw were locals. There was an older gentleman, possibly the owner or manager, who was also very attentive and friendly. He stopped by our table at least three times to make sure everything was satisfactory. As the restaurant is located right on the main drag, I wouldn't necessarily eat here for 'atmosphere', but if you are looking for a nonsmoking, family-friendly restaurant where customers are made to feel welcome and appreciated, I'd highly recommend Bergama.
