A fun speak-easy in the middle of Durham. After visiting Bourbon and Branch in San Francisco, Whiskey was a fun reminder of how cool these places are. Going out with a few friends and grabbing a drink this is a great place to start, roam to, or end the night. Plus for the cigar smoker they have you covered. Upstairs offers a nice selection of smokes and a relaxing leather chair to keep you comfy.

If you want a place that offers an impressive brown liquor list, coupled with atmosphere appropriate leather couches and chairs, and completed with dim lighting where you can hear yourself have an actual conversation - look no further. There is even a cigar list on offer, with a smoking section upstairs if you want to complete the experience. I can't speak for the cocktails, and if the dim lighting and whiskey isn't your thing I would definitely look elsewhere. But then again, the place IS called Whiskey, what did you expect?

This is a standard male-oriented whiskey bar with very stiff and not so tasty drinks and a cigar bar option. Not my cup of tea to reek of smoke or spend the evening enjoying cocktails in a dark cave like space.

I love how this place looks but the unfriendly staff and nasty cigar smoke will prevent me from going back. I've visited this bar at least 5 times and everytime I was confronted with employees who were rude, unacommodating, or just downright mean. After purchasing a 13 dollar dram of whiskey, the doorman shone his flashlight in my face and told me that I couldnt lean on one of the lounge chairs. In a previous trip, a group of friends moved a chair over near one of the sofas, and were promptly scoulded in a very rude manner. It's not that bars shouldn't have rules, but they shouldn't enforce them with crass employees. This place looks upscale and stylish but it's really just a front for a tasteless and expensive rip-off. I won't be going back to deal with their weirdly fanatical and arbitrary rules that allow smoking but prevent me from feeling comfortable doing anything else. GO TO ALLEY 26 INSTEAD!
