In the little town of Cherokee North Carolina as you drive around you will be amazed there is a herd of the North Carolina elk In a fenced area. These elk are being protected due to the fact they were over hunted in the 1790s and disappeared. The national Park service was able to start to reintroduce the elk in 2001. The elk was reintroduced into a few places which are approved by the National Forest Service. The elk ranches are in a breeding program and will be releasing them back into the mountain regions when successfully elk can be re-introduced. The elk are a beautiful animal to look at but you must understand these wild animals are large the males can reach 1000 pounds and he is in there protecting his heard you are not allowed by federal law to go within 150 feet.

The most rude and disrespectful women i have ever come across. They yelled at my daughter and i for not immediately using the hand sanitizer as soon as we walked in. Then they made rude comments and called us names while we looked around so we left. Come to find out they do this alot according to other people who have been there. Do not shop there. There are better gift shops around.
