I was in pain for over a year, trying PT, spinal injections, medication, etc. for my spinal stenosis. I could perform hardly any tasks without severe lumbar pain radiating down my buttocks and thighs. Dr Specter performed a bilateral laminectomy and foraminectomy in January, 2022. Within a week, I had no pain! 6 weeks later, I am able to do housework, yard work, walk 3-4 miles per day with no pain! I feel like a new person. I highly recommend this surgeon if you need spinal surgery!

Dr. Spector is awesome. I was having increasing pain in my lower back. Turns out I have spondylolisthesis a condition that cant be physically corrected without surgery. As my pain increased, my ability to do the activities I love decreased. I finally went to see a surgeon to see what my options were. Dr. Spector listened to my concerns, looked at the images of my back, and took the time to answer all my questions before telling me he thought we could manage my pain and get me back to my favorite physical activities WITHOUT surgery. I was skeptical but after 1 month of physical therapy with Chris Dollar (who is also incredible) at OrthoCarolina, I have almost zero pain, I have been able to stop taking anti-inflammatory medications, and Im back to playing hockey and golf, weight training (with certain modifications), and running. I was surprised that a surgeon would recommend AGAINST surgery. I was even more surprised that my pain has improved this much with stretching and PT alone. I trust Dr. Spector and would recommend him to anyone suffering from back issues.

I was very impressed with my first visit. I felt I was treated with respect and a high degree of professionalism. The office staff were helpful, courteous and proficient. This appointment exceeded my expectations.
