I have never been a client of Dr. Helen Brantley but I find it disturbing that Dr. Helen Brantley was a custody evaluator in a case and she stated ""The more contact (the children) have with the non-ill parent, the better they do. They divide their world into the cancer world and a free of cancer world. Children want a normal childhood, and it is not normal with an ill parent."" She stated this in reference to children spending less time with their mother whom had cancer. This case and Dr. Brantley were in the news because of this. Children love their parents and want to spend time with them regardless of if they have cancer, leukemia or any illness. What kind of a custody evaluator would make such an inappropriate comment? Her comment seems to be discriminatory against people that have cancer. Now Dr. Brantley is on the NC Psychology Board. That doesn't make sense because as a custody evaluator she made an inappropriate comment concerning a woman having cancer. Dr. Brantley still does custody evaluations. How ridiculous as she obviously made an inappropriate statement concerning a mother with cancer.
