Overpriced. Mediocre. I did like that cupcake frosting wasn't overly sweet. But the tiramisu was gross as was the ganache inside one of the cupcakes. The blood orange sherbet had a bitter aftertaste and the carolina flavor was just something lemon. They didn't have any gelato when we went :P

I would highly recommend NOT using Sugarland for your wedding cake or sweets. I had a very disappointing experience with this bakery and with Katarina, to be specific. I was told they would have a simple order of 36 oatmeal cream cookies for my wedding and we paid for these cookies prior to the order being completed. Katarina did not have the cookies ready on the day promised, a day before the wedding, and then in attempt to try and fix her mistake, promised to have the cookies ready the morning of my wedding. Come the morning of my wedding, she proceeds to tell me no one willl be at the bakery for us to come pick up the cookies until 3:00pm after she had told me they would be ready in the morning. That time did not work well for me since my wedding was an hour from Chapel Hill. I immediately told her that would not work for us and to please issue a refund. It has almost been a week since my wedding and she still has yet to respond back to me, fix the error or issue the refund. We will now have to dispute this with our credit card company in order to get our money back. This was HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and extremely dissappointing for a bride on her wedding day. As said before, I would definitely not use this bakery for any wedding orders.

In March of 2018 (this year) my fiance and I gave Sugarland a deposit for the cake for our October wedding. This was after our only cake tasting at the Raleigh location (now closed). The lemon cake was fantastic and with two locations we believed Sugarland would be a sure bet to deliver an amazing cake on our wedding day. My fiance and I were told we would be contacted closer to our wedding date, but never were. We found the Raleigh store closed without explanation this summer. Even though we provided our contact information at the time of our deposit, we were never notified of the closing or the plans for the bakery. I had to seek out the Facebook pages for the business to get an update on the fate of the Raleigh location or the news of the remodel at the Chapel Hill location. With 3 months to go before our wedding, I tried repeatedly to contact someone involved with the business. Phone calls and messages to the numbers listed for both stores go unanswered and unreturned. I emailed every address listed on the Sugarland - Chapel Hill Facebook page. Some of these addresses are no longer valid, while others return an outdated automated away message and appear to not be monitored. The owner did not respond any of my attempts to reach out for two months and the Chapel Hill location has remained closed through this time. The owner Katrina finally responded to one of my emails after I publicly showed my concerns by commenting on a post on the Sugarland - Chapel Hill Facebook page and asked if our deposit will be refunded. Katrina expressed interest in finalizing our order, but would not arrange a phone conversation for the same day. She also failed to call me the following day after commiting that she would. My fiance and I strongly feel that it would be a mistake to give Katrina Ryan and Sugarland Bakery any additional money as we have no assurance that they will deliver on our wedding day. The bakery and its owner are unresponsive and unprofessional. With 30 days to go before our wedding, we have secured another bakery for our wedding cake and would recommend that anyone else in our position do the same.
