Old Salt Restaurant & Oyster Bar was an interesting experience. I was a little indifferent about the service, or lack there of. It was slow, took a long time for our food to arrive and we were some of the only people in the restaurant. The food overall was good, but service and speed could use a huge improvement.

Stopped for appetizers and drinks. Everything was delicious and the staff made us feel like family.

Great little restaurant off the waterfront. My wife and I loved the "beach shack" decor and casual atmosphere. We both ordered seafood which was served fresh and cooked just right. All of the sauces are delicious and are homemade right on down to the ketchup. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. The Butter Cake is a must have for desert, simply wonderful! We enjoyed our dinner here so much that we returned a few nights later.

I'd give Old Salt 3.5 stars for customer service. We made a reservation, and our table was ready 20 minutes beforehand. The waiter admitted that he doesn't like fish, so he couldn't recommend much of anything, other than to tell us what sells well, but he was attentive and friendly. We thought we left a stuffed animal behind, and the woman who answered the phone was sweet and understanding. The décor is simple, but it suits the restaurant well. It took an hour for the food to come out, and as far as the food, unless I got the deep fried fish with or without shrimp, I would never go here to eat again, I tried the onion rings ordered as an appetizer for the table, and they are a perfect example of why I try to avoid Derek fried food--they were very greasy. For dinner, I ordered stuffed flounder, and even after pepper, and four passes with the salt shaker, it lacked flavor. The stringy dark skin inside the stuffed flounder was unappetizing. The waiter graciously offered to make me something else, so I asked for one piece of fried fish, and to please slide my fries and green beans onto a new plate so I could eat while waiting, which he didn't do. When the fish arrived, the fries were missing, and the new green beans were overcooked. When I asked for fries, the waiter acted surpised that I wanted them. Then he gave me 1/3 of what I'd had left on my plate when he took it. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the breading was good, but needed more salt. I did not care for their ketchup, which I found too sweet. The Mayo sauce was OK, but the fried fish needed tartar sauce to give it flavor. When we got the bill, I was charged $30 for the bland stuffed flounder I'd sent back, even though the piece of fish I ended up eating should have been $19. I thought that was tacky. $12 for a martini made with syrups is a ludicrous price. They also added the gratuity to the bill because there were 7 of us, which was to the loss for the waiter, because we would have tipped more. I only recommend this place for the fried fish.
