Called and asked if outdoor pool was open, asked multiple times to be sure they understood I was asking about the outdoor pool. I was assured it was open until 6 pm. I made the drive from Elizabeth City with both of my kids arriving around 12 pm. Upon arrival I was told it was closed with the reason being they couldn't pay the life guards for small amount of people that were showing up. Which strikes me as odd because most of the money circulating is membership based.

So disguised with this building and the people in it....reserved an 8 yr old birthday party for 20 guests...had 15 guests and looked over and realized they were denying people to the birthday party.....the pool reservation we had paid OVER $300 for..because their pool was at full capacity...went and spoke to the lady and she said she couldn't allow anymore people into the pool because there were too many "public swimmers" in the pool we paid for, for 2 hours that day...if you pay for a reservation or pay the extra $5 per guest goodluck to you...because we couldn't even have our full 20 guests before the "gate lady" was denying people...didn't have anything setup at 1:10 when we got there...knowing the party planner said she would be there at 1 to get it setup...will not have another birthday party at ymca...and honestly wouldn't recommend anyone too with the experience we had...the kids that were allowed in had fun yhankfully they didn't realize what was going on...but to the ymca very unorganized and was not worth $300 to rent the pool guests couldn't even come into...

Absolutely terrible with communication...don't try and plan any events at this ynca unless it's a year in advanced because trying to get a callback or an email back about a kids birthday party has been one tail of a nightmare...between dropping in emails and voicemail over the last two weeks with nothing in return!! Make sure you start trying with plenty of time in advanced!!
