Nona Mia Market and Deli

Nona Mia undoubtedly has the best lasagna I have ever eaten anywhere. I am a pasta guy, and their is no comparison in this town I make it a point to eat there several times a month, either dine in or to go and I always go straight for this delicious menu item

Recently had a delicious dinner at Nona Mia. Weather was cooperating so we sat outside on the back deck. The food was excellent as was the service. I had the calamari to start which included sage, aioli sauce, lemon and arugula. So good! I have eaten calamari all over the planet and Nona Mia's calamari is some of the best I have ever had. Also had a small ceasar salad. I am very picky about ceasar salads, Nona Mia gets it right is all I can say. Finally I ordered the Formaggio Ravioli Spinaci with the cheese, spinach and basil-walnut pesto. I'm not normally a big pasta eater but I found this dish was light, savory and fresh. The basket of three types of baked bread accompanied by olive oil for dipping was also sinfully yummy. I am embarrassed to say we ended the evening by splitting a tiramisu. I'd like to tell you that after all that food I only had a bite but no, my dinner companion and I split it 50/50 and fought over the last morsel. Our server, Sarah, was attentive and present when we needed her without being annoying or intrusive during our dining experience. She was well informed about the menu and the subtle differences in the variety of available beer. Overall a very special evening spent in west Asheville's Nona Mia.
