I am only giving 2 stars because of Shawntasia - she deserves a raise and a VACATION! Shawntasia, Miss Patsy ,and Brandon were the ONLY staff that treated me well. They saw me as a human not my disease - that makes ALL the difference. There was no coffee and no concern for my immediate needs... If not for Brandon and Miss Patsy I would have received ZERO help from ANY night nurse. Shawntasia took her time and really listened to me - she made me feel heard and that made all the difference. Ashoskie needs 20 more like you on day shift I thank God the 3 of you were there. Keep up the good work . And anyone with out compassion needs to MOVE ON! RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED MARY EVANS

Posted Around 3/28/23. I give Vidant Adult Behavioral Health Northside Mental Health Hospital FIVE STARS. Starting the review with intake....The reception who did my paperwork was warm, inviting and compassionate. When I first walked into the facility, I immediately knew I was in the right place and would be well cared for. What impressed me is how respectful and mindful they are of patient rights. For example, i had requested that my outside medical doctor, "PCP, be able to access my medical records here inside the facility. I expected i would be given a hard time like the emergency room I came from "You have to be discharged first, then sign a release form at your doctor's office, blah, blah, blah". None of this happened at this facility. They IMMEDIATLY granted me a release of information form for me to to sign so my doctor could access my records without question. This really pleased me and made me feel respected. The employees here are wonderful. LaTonya is like the moon in the sky who offers light in the darkness.. She is a great listener and sat with me asking questions, listening to all of my concerns. She also offered wonderful guidance. I really appreciate the structure she offered and validation of my feelings regarding some family conflict I'm having. She said "It's not me that's the problem, I shouldn't have to live with this kind of conflict". That piece of advice meant the world to me. Maogany, on the other hand, is the bright, shimmering sun in the sky that offers a warm, illuminate path to life. She has an ultra positive attitude that's infectious that she imparts upon her patients. She's all about staying positive and upbeat, and reassured us residents there is no shame reaching out for help. Her glowing words really reasonated with me, and I appreciate her help. Allison, my psychiatrist, is also just as wonderful. She is kind, caring and compassionate, and took the time to listen to all of my concerns and numerous questions. I like how she speaks clear terms "Non-Freudian Psycho Babble" that I can relate to. She's laid back, humble, and doesn't flash her title around. I really appreciate how down to earth to earth and natural she is. The facility here, physical wise, is "OKAY", not the fanciest I've been in, and the food a little bit above average, but I'm grateful to have gotten a spot here when I needed care. ALL of the staff here are wonderful and more than make up for it. They always kept our daily need (uniforms, toothpaste, towels) etc plenty aflowing and in steady supply and went above and beyond the call of duty. I walked out of here with the proper med adjustment, a referall to the proper psychiatrist, a new positive attitude, and no more suicidal urges. For that, I give Vidant Adult Behavioral Health Northside Mental Health Psych Hospital Five Stars....

This is the worst place to send someone for mental health. They release people in the same state of mind they went in there in. The case workers dont care have tell them how many times the person done been there this there job to know. They just dont care period when you telling them what type of state of mind the person in only thing they can say the person is fine right know. The most worthless place for anyone to go at. Have no type of resources to help people to get better. They just dont care period!!!!!

I I am giving 3 stars because of Deb Scarfo. I would give her 5 stars alone. It is really disappointing to have professionals treat you in such a demeaning way when you are already going through a difficult time. How you could be comfortable speaking down to someone, cussing, and having an ugly attitude but especially on your job when you should have a professional demeanor. Two nurses in particular were nasty and one stood out even worst than the other, Latoya. She talked so ugly to the patients. Violating HIPPA regulations by stating out loud why a patient needed a medicine that had nothing to do with their mental health. The reason I pointed that out because we could figure out someone else's meds if they are taking the same thing as you but this was for something else. If you don't have the fortitude, professional demeanor, or professional maturity to handle this population don't work in an environment such as this. We are already going through enough without being demeaned, disrespected, and disregarded. On another note, the good employees are going to rat on the bad ones so perhaps you should consider putting in audio and video to monitor not just the patients but the staff as well.
