Val's is simply my favorite restaurant -- hospitality, charm, and excellent classic Italian-American food. If you are anywhere within striking distance, just go. I've been going there for about 25 years and still look forward to it every time.
My personal top dishes are the parms (chicken, egglant, veal) and the pastas (especially the red-sauce based ones). And the seafood salad and the ricotta cheesecake.

Have eaten at this restaurant quite a few tmes. By far the best italian food I've ever had at any italian restaurant, anywhere. Portions are always take home size. Next day the food is wonderful. A little pricey but the quality of the meat, pasta and cooking by the talented chef's exceeds excellent. Like taking friends there to hear their comments. Always the same, wonderful. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Highly recommend. ............2/8/13.

Welcomed nicely by maître D forced to check coat, snack table for 6 people, waiter barely spoke English. Food one entrée missed, artichoke served cold veal under cooked. Rest of food was good. Tab was $184. I left $200 bucks total. Bartender called Bob over, "Hey check this tip out" Bob calls me over and asked, Was there something wrong with the service ? I responded it was adequate, he stated it was customary to leave 15%, to which I responded, if I was obligated to give more, I was so infuriated, another waiter chimes in "don't worry about it" to which I said I'm not worried. I couldn't believe these guys wanted to shake me down. I stood outside for 10 minutes, contemplating going back in, but my family talked me out of it. Needless to say I will never return. These guys are haughty and believe they're something they're not.
