Brian is great. He responds timely and gives great service at a good price. I use him exclusively. The only complication is he is in demand. If you want great work done, sometimes you have to wait your turn

The call response was fine until the project was discussed. I made a valid effort to try and collaborate and pander to his needs but he declined. Inept , and unable to work out a suitable comprises. Yea, don't call him for any advice.

Yikes. Called Brian about a month ago to check his availability for installing some lights in my house. He said he was booked way out and had a super affable friendly disposition on the phone. Totally fair. He asked me to call him back in a couple weeks to see if he freed up any time. I did. He said nope, still booked out. Maybe I’ll call you in a week or two. Yesterday he left a voicemail that he’d happen to be near my house, so he could hit the 4-5 lights I needed installed. So, I drove 2.5 hours from where I’d been and cancelled my whole day to meet him and gopher for any supplies he might need. He showed up on time, and I was greeted with “there’s no way you’ll finish your house by the time you want to, good luck.” I don’t recall asking your opinion, but okay. Thanks. We walk in the house and I show him the first light that needed replacing—a chandelier. This is a bigger ask, and I totally understood if he needed a supply run or to come back another day. The next stop was a couple sconces above existing outlets in a bedroom. He seemed genuinely confused by the construction of the sconces, said “these aren’t going to last,” (again, who asked?) and said yeah okay, easy enough. We go upstairs to see a ceiling fan that needed to be installed a couple feet away from an existing light fixture. “We’ll have to go into the ceiling.” “Yup! I’ve got a contractor and two other guys here for that.” “Well, I can’t do any of this.” “…what?” “Yeah I don’t have the stuff, so. I can’t do it. Maybe in a couple weeks. Possibly. I don’t know. I’ll let you know.” “…I told you I drove 2.5 hours to come here and meet you, and I’d already shared the projects’ details in advance.” “Okay, we’ll maybe I’ll call you. In a few weeks.” “Any idea when? Can we schedule anything?” “Nope! I’ll just see when I can get back up here.” When I told my contractor what happened, he a) said he wasn’t surprised given Brian’s rep and b) was shocked he didn’t have any supplies on him to make *any* of the requests happen. This guy isn’t dependable, and even though I’d read through the negative reviews of him online, I’m genuinely in a bind as there is such a shortage of electricians in the area/availability is scarce. So, I figured I’d give him a shot. Shouldn’t have. Don’t waste your time with Hammel Electric.
