Easily the most incompetent management I have ever seen, the manager and assistant manager need to be replaced for not acting professional and have no idea how to run anything.

I haven't left a negative review in quite a long time, which is obviously because I haven't had an experience that warranted such a rating in quite a long time either. Today was my first time visiting the Roslyn branch... and most likely it was my last. Now I've been a customer of NYCB since I was probably 5 years old. I've had a custodial account since then, as well as my own personal savings account and checking account since I was 21. So essentially I've been a customer for 28 years. Sure there are much popular banks that offer more modern-day conveniences and benefits, but the NYCBs I've frequented (Queens County Savings Bank in fresh meadows and Kew Garden) have always been good to me all these years. So for that reason, I've been loyal. Upon walking up to the teller, I was being my jovial self and let the teller know that I just moved to the area and it was my first time here.  I then stated I'd like to please double check my balance and make a withdrawal. She responded with a deadpan expression and monotone voice  "What is your bank account number." That was fine of course, I don't expect everyone to be in a good mood all the time, life happens and I get that. I let her know that I actually don't know my account number. I explained further that my bank account was recently updated from an old-school style bank book (which had the bank number printed inside) to a digital savings account. She then asked for my social security # and ID and also my security questions to confirm my identity, which I happily handed over and answered. Maybe I was too friendly or too polite, but from her mannerisms and stare, I got the sense she didn't like dealing with me very much. Before she walked away to talk to her manager, I explained that I have a custodial account, personal savings and checking account, just to add any additional further confirmation, in case they needed it. After speaking to her manager for about 5 minutes, she returned stating that both of my savings accounts are of the custodial type and thus, I wouldn't be unable to even see my balance or withdraw my own money, unless it was related to my checking account. Thrown off, I scratched my head and then stated that I would return and when I do, would also be bringing some HH bonds with me to deposit. She responding condescendingly saying "you can only deposit bonds are in your name you know." I replied "yes, that's why I said I would be depositing MY bonds."It all seemed very "Home Alone 2-ish". I felt like I was Kevin and she was the hotel clerk.. except Im a grown adult trying to access my own money. I left and started walking to my car, confused as I've had my own personal savings account with NYCB for about 12 years now and have accessed it all across NY and even while visiting affiliated branches that are out of state. I mulled it over for 30 seconds until I realized that they simply made a mistake. No biggie, it happens.  I walked back and approached the walk-in counter at 2:50. I knew they closed that 3:00 but surely a customer who you just spoke to takes precedence over your closing routine, no? Well I patiently waited another 9 minutes, only to be finally acknowledged by a grimaced "Yes?" I calmly explained they that they made a mistake and to asked for them to please double check. Her response was "my manager was the one who told me your accounts are both custodial so thats that." I politely began to ask her please call the Fresh Meadows branch so they can confirm with  their management that is indeed not the case. As I was mid sentence she replied "No, we're closing" and then proceeded to lower the counter window blinds on me. Flabbergasted, I simply responded  "That was very rude, I've been a customer for over 20 years" and left. Roslyn Savings Bank, I'm quite disappointed in you as this experience is not in any away indicative of the NYCB brand and customer service that I've come to love for over two decades. Hopefully it was a fluke here but I'd actually rather drive 30 mins to my hometown location than to come back.
