The maple syrup is great, but the price rose significantly after the business sold relatively recently and now better deals can be found elsewhere. My family and I enjoyed a pleasant holiday experience cutting a tree there this holiday season, and the trees were in great shape, but then we were overcharged for the tree. We cut down a tree that we were fairly confident was under six feet tall, based on known heights of family members and how the tree compared in height. On the way out, the gentleman measured the tree very quickly with his measuring stick and charged us for a tree over six feet tall. The measurement was surprisingly quick and it didn't seem correct so I tried to politely question it, suggesting the tree was actually under six feet. I expected he would re-measure more carefully, but instead he merely said "no" and nothing further. So we paid the extra money with a bit of a bad flavor for the transaction. When we arrived home, we took time to measure the tree properly, and sure enough, the tree was no taller than 5 feet, 11.75 inches. Even if the tree had been half an inch over 6 feet tall, I would think, in the nature of good customer service and with the error of uncertainty in measuring a tree, they would prefer to err on the side of the customer in close calls.

About
Cedarvale Maple Syrup Co
In 1977, a then 23-year-old Karl Wiles was inspired by the ability to make a living off the surrounding land. With no prior experience he began tapping the maple trees on his property and, shortly after, established Cedarvale Maple Syrup Co.As a recent college graduate with a degree in Economics, Karl had limited knowledge of the industry and looked for the most efficient way to get started; he connected with a retiring sugarhouse owner, purchased his equipment, and started a full-scale maple syrup operation. After just a few years, Cedarvale Maple Syrup Co. was a fully operating sugarhouse and Christmas Tree Farm with a large and loyal following. As one of the only maple syrup producers at the time, Cedarvale quickly gained recognition as the local favorite, adorning gift baskets and kitchen tables for the families of Syracuse and surrounding communities year-round.In 2011, a then 11-year-old Michael Spicer was on a 5th grade field trip when he was inspired to start making maple syrup himself. Shortly after, he tapped over 100 trees in his own backyard and by 18-years-old produced enough product to sell at local farmers markets.
