image Beware: if you have emblem HIP, and your primary care physician is in the advantage care network (anywhere, not just at this location) then your urgent care visits at this location are FREE, but they are still charging people a $50 copay. If this has happened to you, contact Emblem health about the scam. This place should be audited, forced to return any money stolen, and shut down.
My long, dragged out experience
Alyssa, the receptionist in urgent care was a nightmare to deal with, very argumentative about what my insurance covers, and very wrong as well.
She kept telling everyone that she had to work until 8pm because she had a daughter in college. Consequently, she was nasty, argumentative and doing minimal work.
She kept insisting that I had to pay $50 to be seen and if I went to another urgent care, they would charge me $100. None of that was true.
Then she kept interrupting while I was speaking with another staff member in the urgent care, and yellingshe doesnt want to pay the $50, she doesnt want to pay the $50, as if she was trying to shame me into just paying the $50, which I already knew that I did not have to pay.
Alyssa also kept telling me to go to admin and report her, so she seemed to be confident that there would be no consequences for her behavior.
Her supervisor Iliana was just as unprofessional and didnt correct Alyssas unhinged behavior, the head RN who Iliana said was HER supervisor was not any better.
I spent over an hour there (with no one ahead of me) dealing with a group of unprofessional woman, who seemed to have formed a clique, and prevented me from seeing a dr and getting the healthcare that I needed.
They also seemed to be threatening to lie, and both Alyssa and Iliana said at different pointswe have witnesses . Im not sure what that meant, but I felt that they were threatening me. At one point, Iliana got security to stare me down menacingly and tell me to leavefor challenging a copay that Im not responsible for? I had even agreed to pay the copay with my credit card and challenge it through my insurance company.
Fortunately, I was on a recorded line with emblem the entire time, otherwise I feel that they would have made it appear that I was violent or cursing them out, which I never did.
When I informed Iliana that I was on a recorded line and had a witness of my own, she told security (Roger) to go back to his post. I was never checked in by other staff members, who refused to identify themselves. So I will have to simply describe her as I see herthe ugly girl in the blue shirt.
Ultimately I left for citymd where I received professional healthcare within 20 minutes of arrival. The staff at the front desk should be hired to train the goons at advantage care urgent care, because they were so knowledgeable that when I described my poor experience at avp, the girl at the front desk laughed and said the the moron didnt read your card, thats the information for GHI not your insurance. My card clearly states HIP.
Anyway, the place is terrible, Im filing professional misconduct reports for each person that can be identified, and you should avoid this place at all coststhey have poor ratings for a reason. I wish I would have read them first.
