American Parkinson Disease Association

As a retired health care provider, I take no pleasure in writing this review ,but unfortunately it's necessary! I spent an entire week trying to get information for my elderly sister, who is experiencing a life changing event. Her husband of 57yrs. suffers with Parkinson's and is progressively declining My goal was to obtain information for any type of support for my sister, specifically a networking venue for counseling and emotional support. I finally received a voicemail from an unidentified person, stating that the information I was seeking unfortunately could not be provided, because the person responsible for that particular task was on maternity leave. I immediately contacted the Parkinson's Headquarters only to be referred back to the same regional office where I received the voicemail! When you're in the business of providing support for individuals whoare already facing a health crisis , it should be done with compassion and dignity.It's a disgrace that a national organization is unable or unwilling to do so especially when they receive funding from private sectors and individualsthat are doing so, because they believe in the self proclaimed accolades of of this organization. I hope this review will bring a new perspective into this!
