Zar is a jewel of St. James, NY. I am a long time resident of St. James, and Zar Cafe is one of the great perks of living here. The food is terrific, and the ambiance is fantastic. It's some of the best Middle Eastern / Greek food you can get. Personally, I love the Chicken Pers, but there are so many great dishes. The hummus is awesome as well. The patio out back is gorgeous with beautiful flowers. It's like being able to walk to Europe right in your home town. If you're in the Smithtown, St. James, Stony Brook, Setauket area, definitely eat here. It will feel like you discovered a secret you can't wait to tell your friends about.
